''League of Legends'' Champions Korea (LCK) is the primary competition for ''League of Legends'' esports in South Korea. Contested by ten teams, the league runs two seasons per year and serves as a direct route to qualification for the annual ''League of Legends'' World Championship. The LCK is administered in cooperation between Riot Games and KeSPA. The league was formerly named ''League of Legends'' Champions before undergoing a major restructuring in late 2014, which saw a change in the competition's format and a rebranding to its current name. OGN reserved exclusive broadcasting rights of the league until 2016 when rights were split with SPOTV Games. In 2019, Riot Games took over the broadcasting of LCK. In 2021 the LCK franchised, and Challengers Korea (CK) and the LCK promotion tournament were discontinued. ''League of Legends'' (''LoL''), commonly referred to as ''League'', is a 2009 multiplayer online battle arena video game developed and published by Riot Games. Inspired by ''Defense of the Ancients'', a Mod (video games), custom map for Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos, ''Warcraft III'', Riot's founders sought to develop a stand-alone game in the same genre. The 2017 ''League of Legends'' World Championship was an esports tournament for the multiplayer online battle arena video game ''League of Legends''. It was the seventh iteration of the ''League of Legends'' World Championship, an annual international tournament organized by the game's developer, Riot Games. It was held from September 23November 4, 2017, in cities across China. Twenty four teams qualified for the tournament based on their placement in regional circuits such as those in North America, Europe, South Korea, and China, with twelve of those teams having to reach the group stage via a play-in round. Kim Chang-dong ( ko, 김창동), better known as Canna ( ko, 칸나), is a South Korean professional ''League of Legends'' player for Dplus KIA. He made his debut during KeSPA Cup 2019. He was a trainee of T1 before being promoted to the team. Early life His role model is Khan. Hanwha Life Esports (HLE) is a South Korean esports organization based in Seoul, owned by Hanwha Life Insurance. It has teams competing in ''League of Legends'' and ''Kart Rider'', with the former competing in the LCK, South Korea's top level professional league for the game.
