The League of Catalonia–Catalan Liberal Party ( ca, Lliga de Catalunya–Partit Liberal Català, LC–PLC) was a Catalonia-based party alliance established on 30 September 1976 by the Catalan Liberal League (LLC) and Democratic Action (AD) ahead of the 1977 Spanish general election. Catalan nationalism is the ideology asserting that the Catalans are a distinct nation. Intellectually, modern Catalan nationalism can be said to have commenced as a political philosophy in the unsuccessful attempts to establish a federal state in Spain in the context of the First Republic (1873-1874). Federation of Democratic and Liberal Parties ( es, Federación de Partidos Demócratas y Liberales; FPDL) was a Spanish Liberalism, liberal political party (with a federal structure), founded in 1976. The main leader of the FPDL was Joaquín Garrigues Walker.
