League Cup In Polish Football
In Polish football there have been four different League Cups with varying levels of success, but all were short-lived competitions, held irregularly over the years. The league cup competitions focused mainly on top division teams, in contrast to that of the Polish Cup which allows teams much lower down in the footballing pyramid to compete. The four League Cup competitions played in Poland are; the ''Young Leaders Rally Cup'' ( pl, Puchar Zlotu Młodych Przodowników) (1952), the ''League Cup'' ( pl, Puchar Ligi) (1977–1978), the ''Polish League Cup'' ( pl, Puchar Ligi Polskiej) (1999–2002), and the ''Ekstraklasa Cup'' ( pl, Puchar Ekstraklasy) (2006–2009), the former three being organised by the Polish Football Association while the most recent competition was organised by Ekstraklasa SA. Polish Football Association
The Polish Football Association ( pl, Polski Związek Piłki Nożnej; PZPN) is the governing body of association football in Poland. It organizes the Polish football leagues (without the Ekstraklasa), the Polish Cup and the Polish national football team. It is based in the Polish capital of Warsaw. History The fully independent federation was established 20 December 1919 engulfing the autonomous Polish Football Union (PFU) that was part of the disintegrated Austrian Football Union. The PFU was established on 25 June 1911 in Lwów, Austria-Hungary. Between 1911 and 1919 the national team of Poland played three games at the Czarni Lwów's stadium. The team was composed mainly of players from the city of Lwów. When the Wehrmacht invaded Poland in September 1939, all Polish institutions and associations were dissolved, including the PZPN. Górnik Zabrze
Górnik Zabrze Spółka Akcyjna, commonly referred to as Górnik Zabrze S.A. or simply Górnik Zabrze (), is a Polish football club from Zabrze. Górnik is one of the most successful Polish football clubs in history, winning the second-most Polish Championship titles together with Ruch Chorzów. The club was a dominant force in the 1960s and 1980s. Górnik holds the record for winning the most consecutive Polish Championship titles (5) and Polish Cup titles (5). Stadion Zagłębia Lubin
Stadion Zagłębia Lubin (meaning ''Stadium of Zagłębie Lubin''), branded as KGHM Zagłębie Arena for sponsorship reasons, is a football stadium located in Lubin, Poland. It is the home ground of Zagłębie Lubin. The stadium holds 16,068 people. The old multi-use stadium was built on 22 July 1985 with a capacity of 35,000. Construction of a new stadium started on 18 September 2007. Zagłębie played its first official match in the new stadium on 14 March 2009 against Górnik Łęczna. Only three stands were opened.
