Lal Wickrematunge
Lal Wickrematunge is a Sri Lankan business man, media mogul and chairman of Leader Publications which he co-founded with brother Lasantha Wickrematunge. Wickrematunge is the son of Harris Wickrematunge former deputy mayor of Colombo. Life and career Wickrematunge was born to Harris Wickrematunge former deputy mayor of Colombo and is the grand nephew of the late George E. de Silva. Wickrematunge worked in the Criminal Investigation Department (Sri Lanka) and worked as a business man before co-founding The Sunday Leader alongside his brother Lasantha Wickrematunge who was later assassinated in January 2009. Along with his brother Wickrematunge endured constant run-ins with the government for stories his publishing house would carry including a long-standing case made against Wickrematunge and Leader Publications by Gotabhaya Rajapaksa for which he is suing for 2 Billion Rupees (€14 million). ''Iruresa'' is a Sinhala language Sri Lankan weekly newspaper published by Lithira Publications (Private) Limited, part of Leader Publications (Private) Limited. It was founded in 1994 and is published from Colombo. Its sister newspapers are ''The Sunday Leader'' and the defunct '' The Morning Leader''. Founded by brothers Lasantha Wickrematunge and Lal Wickrematunge, the newspaper is known for its outspoken and controversial news coverage. ''Iruresa'' was founded under the ''Irudina'' name. Lasantha Manilal Wickrematunge ( si, ලසන්ත වික්රමතුංග, ta, லசந்த விக்கிரமதுங்க; 5 April 1958 – 8 January 2009) was a high-profile Sri Lankan journalist, politician, broadcaster and human rights activist who was assassinated in January 2009. Wickrematunge was the founder of ''The Sunday Leader'' newspaper and Leader Publications and was a virulent critic of the Mahinda Rajapaksa government, and had been locked in a legal battle with Gotabaya Rajapaksa, who was defence secretary at the time and was spearheading the battle against the LTTE rebels. Arson
Arson is the crime of willfully and deliberately setting fire to or charring property.
