Leader's Academy High School For Business And Academic Success
Leader's Academy High School for Business and Academic Success, previously the High School for Business and Economic Success (HSBES), was a Grade 7–12 state charter school located on the campus of Windsor Village United Methodist Church in Windsor Village, Houston, Windsor Village, Houston, in the U.S. state of Texas. The school was formerly named Gulf Shores Academy. In 2011 it merged with Benji's Special Educational Academy into Victory Preparatory Academy. History Gulf Shores Academy opened in 1998. The Texas Education Agency tried to shut down the charter school for several years. At a point the school owed the state United States dollar, US$11 million for over-reporting attendance. Harris County, Texas, Harris County prosecutors said that the original founders of the academy sold forged transcripts to undercover investigators. Kirbyjon H. Caldwell is the former senior pastor of Windsor Village United Methodist Church, a 14,000-member megachurch at Windsor Village in Houston, Texas. He was a spiritual advisor to Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama. On March 17, 2020, Caldwell pleaded guilty to federal wire fraud charges in a $3.5 million bond scheme and was sentenced to six years in federal prison. Darington O'Neal Hobson (born September 29, 1987) is an American professional basketball player for Minas Tênis Clube of the Novo Basquete Brasil. He played college basketball for the University of New Mexico Lobos men's basketball team. Born in Las Vegas, Nevada, Hobson attended five high schools and a junior college before finally becoming eligible to play Division I college basketball. Hobson was drafted in the 2nd round (37th overall) of the 2010 NBA Draft by the Milwaukee Bucks. Hobson was waived on December 2, 2010, due to injury.
