''Le mari de la reine'' is an opérette in three acts of 1889, with music by André Messager and a French language, French libretto by E Grenet-Dancourt and Octave Pradels.Wagstaff J. André Messager. This is a glossary list of opera genres, giving alternative names. "Opera" is an Italian word (short for "opera in musica"); it was not at first ''commonly'' used in Italy (or in other countries) to refer to the genre of particular works. André Messager
André Charles Prosper Messager (; 30 December 1853 – 24 February 1929) was a French composer, organist, pianist and conductor. His compositions include eight ballets and thirty opéra comique, opéras comiques, opérettes and other stage works, among which his ballet ''Les Deux Pigeons (ballet), Les Deux Pigeons'' (1886) and opéra comique ''Véronique (operetta), Véronique'' (1898) have had lasting success; ''Les p'tites Michu, Les P'tites Michu'' (1897) and ''Monsieur Beaucaire (opera), Monsieur Beaucaire'' (1919) were also popular internationally. Octave Pradels
Octave Pradels (15 February 1842 – 30 April 1930) was a French poet, novelist, vaudevilliste and lyricist. Biography Octave Frederick Pradels published his first monologues, tales in verse and songs in 1883. Among his greatest successes were ''Ça commençait si gentiment'', ''La Chula'', ''Dans l'oasis'', ' (written in collaboration with ). His songs were created in particular by Kam-Hill, Anna Judic, Amiati (at the Eldorado) and Thérésa. A director of the Théâtre des Capucines, Octave Pradels was also president of the SACEM from 1895 to 1898. Montrouge (15 March 1825 – 22 December 1903), born Louis (Émile) Hesnard, was a comic actor in French musical theatre in the second half of the nineteenth century, as well as a theatre manager in Paris.
