Le Téléjournal
''Le Téléjournal'' is the umbrella title used for the television newscasts aired on the Ici Radio-Canada Télé broadcast network. ''Le Téléjournal'' (by itself) has been used since 1954 as the title of the network's flagship newscast, originating from Montreal, Quebec. It is considered the French language equivalent of the English-language CBC's '' The National''. From 1983 to 2006, ''Le Téléjournal'' was paired with a separate newsmagazine series called ''Le Point'', similar to the distinction between CBC Television's ''The National'' and '' The Journal''. Other local and national newscasts airing on Radio-Canada adopted variants of the ''Téléjournal'' title beginning in the early 2000s. Céline Galipeau, OC, OQ, is a Canadian news anchor for Radio-Canada. Well known for her comprehensive and insightful coverage from Moscow, she is currently the weekday anchor of the network's flagship newscast ''Le Téléjournal''. Early life Galipeau was born in Longueuil, Quebec in 1957. She is the daughter of , a French Canadian diplomat and Pham Thi Ngoc Lang, a Vietnamese refugee from the First Indochina War. Education Galipeau earned her master's degree in political science and sociology from McGill University in 1983. Stéphan Bureau (born July 2, 1964) is a Canadian journalist, TV interviewer and producer of TV shows and documentary series. Life and career Bureau was born in Montreal, Quebec. He successfully auditioned at Télévision de Radio-Canada, and became one of the youngest reporters in a TV show dedicated to teenagers. Bernard Derome
Bernard Derome, CM, OQ (born January 10, 1944) is a Canadian broadcaster, who was news anchor for the weeknight editions of '' Le Téléjournal'' on Radio-Canada until December 18, 2008. Biography Derome studied at Saint Lawrence College under the instruction of the Clerics of Saint-Viateur. In 1963, when he was 19 years old, he began his first job in broadcasting at radio station CJBR in Rimouski. He moved to Canada's government funded French-language broadcaster, Radio-Canada, in 1965 and began anchoring ''Aujourd'hui'' (Today) in 1967. Derome was chief news anchor for Radio-Canada Television from 1970 to 1998, hosting the nightly ''Le Téléjournal''. Michel David (born in 1951) has been a Québécois journalist since 1978, and is a columnist for the Montreal, Quebec, Canada, newspaper ''Le Devoir''. Tasha Kheiriddin (born 1970) is a Canadian public affairs commentator, consultant, lawyer, policy analyst and writer.
