Le Ray, New York
Le Ray is a town in Jefferson County, New York, United States. The population was 25,574 at the 2020 census, up from 21,782 in 2010. The town is named for Jacques-Donatien Le Ray, known as a French "father of the American Revolution". The town is in the central part of the county and is northeast of Watertown. History Archaeological remains show the presence of aboriginal natives in the town. The region was part of Macomb's Purchase and was acquired by Gouverneur Morris and James Le Ray in 1800. Settlement began around 1802. The town was formed in 1806 from the town of Brownville and included a large portion of northern Jefferson County. Parts of the town were used to create the towns of Wilna, Alexandria, Theresa, Antwerp, and Philadelphia. Many of the historic settlements of the town were abandoned due to the formation of Fort Drum, which occupies the eastern half of the town. Le Ray Township is a township in Blue Earth County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 846 as of the 2000 census. History Le Ray Township was first settled in 1856 and was organized in 1860. At first it was named Lake Township, then was renamed Tivoli Township, but on September 5, 1860, it received its present name. Geography According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of , of which is land and (7.19%) is water. The east half of the city of Eagle Lake is within the township geographically but is a separate entity. Dani Le Ray
Danielle Kate "Dani" Le Ray (born 6 November 1982) is an Australian gymnast. She started gymnastics in 1989 at the age of six. She represented Australia as an Olympic competitor at the Sydney Olympics in rhythmic gymnastics in 2000 and in the Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur in 1998. On the lead up to the Sydney Olympics, Danielle Le Ray also featured in the Bonds "Our Olympic Heroes" calendar alongside Ian Thorpe, Cathy Freeman; Matt Shirvington; Emma George; Geoff Huegill; James Thompkins & Drew Ginn; Grant Hackett; Tania Van Heer; Patrick Johnson; Andrei Kravtsov; Liz Weeks; and Dean Pullar. Since retiring as a gymnast Danielle has dedicated her life to creating a nurturing environment for the next generation of gymnasts by founding "Le Ray Gymnastics." Jacques-Donatien Le Ray
Jacques-Donatien Le Ray de Chaumont (1 September 1726 – 22 February 1803) was a French "Father of the American Revolution", but later an opponent of the French Revolution. His son of the same name, known also in America as James Le Ray, eventually became a United States citizen and settled in Le Ray, New York USA. American Revolution Le Ray de Chaumont served King Louis XVI at the Court at Versailles as the Governor of Les Invalides in Paris and the Grand Master of Waters and Lands of Blois. Following the Declaration of Independence from Great Britain, by the American colonies on 4 July 1776, emissaries were dispatched to France by the new United States revolutionary government to seek assistance from the French king. Although anxious to see Great Britain weakened, Louis XVI had to walk a political tightrope.
