Independent Record Label
An independent record label (or indie label) is a record label that operates without the funding or distribution of major record labels; they are a type of small- to medium-sized enterprise, or SME. The labels and artists are often represented by trade associations in their country or region, which in turn are represented by the international trade body, the Worldwide Independent Network (WIN). Many of the labels started as producers and distributors of specific genres of music, such as jazz music, or represent something new and non-mainstream, such as Elvis Presley in the early days. Indies release rock, soul, R&B, jazz, blues, gospel, reggae, hip hop, and world music. Music appearing on indie labels is often referred to as indie music, or more specifically by genre, such as indie hip-hop. Moose (band)
Moose were a British indie rock band who formed in London in 1990. The original line-up included Russell Yates (guitar, vocals), K.J. "Moose" McKillop (guitar), Damien Warburton (drums), and Jeremy Tishler (bass). After Warburton and Tishler left the band they were replaced with Lincoln Fong (bass), his brother Russell (guitar), and Richard Thomas (drums). Other members have included Mig Moorland (drums) and Mick Conroy (keyboards). Moose released two EPs on Hut Records. Within the next few years the band released two albums on Play It Again Sam. Despite a strong critical response, Moose’s albums continued to sell few copies. Sam Bisbee
Sam Bisbee is an American independent film producer and composer. He is a co-winner of the Primetime Emmy Award for Exceptional Merit in Documentary Filmmaking in 2019, and in 2021 was nominated for a Peabody Award. Biography Bisbee graduated from Columbia University in 1990. After graduating from college, he worked as a songwriter, composer, and music producer. Bisbee has composed scores for movies, including the 2000 film ''Wildflowers'' and signed a publishing deal with Nettwerk in 2008. He also co-wrote the script and composed the score for movies ''Don't Go in the Woods'', ''Mall'', and produced '' The New Tenants'', which won the Academy Award for Best Live Action Short Film in 2010. ''Stars Forever'' is the thirteenth studio album by Scottish musician Momus, released by Le Grand Magistery in 1999. The album has been described as part of Momus's "analog-baroque" phase. Momus wrote thirty songs for ''Stars Forever'', one about every person or group who commissioned a song at the price of $1,000. The funds raised went towards the costs incurred from a lawsuit against Momus by Wendy Carlos. "Patrons" include fellow musicians The Minus 5 and Keigo Oyamada, artist Jeff Koons, retail store Other Music, and record label Minty Fresh.
