LeRoy Stumpf
LeRoy A. Stumpf (born May 29, 1944) is a Minnesota politician and former member of the Minnesota Senate. A member of the Minnesota Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party (DFL), he represented District 1, which included all or portions of Kittson, Marshall, Pennington, Polk, Red Lake and Roseau counties in the northwestern part of the state. Background Stumpf was born in Waverly, Minnesota. Education Stumpf graduated from Nazareth Hall High School, and then went on to receive a B.A. from the St. Paul Seminary in Saint Paul, Minnesota. He later received a M.P.A. from the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University in Syracuse, New York. Marvin B. "Marv" Hanson (December 12, 1943 – February 29, 2004) was a farmer and politician. From Hallock, Minnesota, Hanson received his bachelor's degree from University of Minnesota and his law degree from Columbia Law School. He had served in the United States Peace Corps. A whip is an official of a political party whose task is to ensure party discipline in a legislature. This means ensuring that members of the party vote according to the party platform, rather than according to their own individual ideology or the will of their donors or constituents. Whips are the party's "enforcers". They try to ensure that their fellow political party legislators attend voting sessions and vote according to their party's official policy.
