LeRoy J. Jones Jr. (born September 5, 1957) is an American politician who served four terms in the New Jersey General Assembly, where he represented the 27th Legislative District. He currently serves as Chair of the New Jersey Democratic Party, as well as the Democratic Party chair for both East Orange and Essex County, New Jersey. He is also a partner at 1868 Public Affairs, a government and public affairs consultancy. An assault is the act of committing physical harm or unwanted physical contact upon a person or, in some specific legal definitions, a threat or attempt to commit such an action. It is both a crime and a tort and, therefore, may result in criminal prosecution, civil liability, or both. Generally, the common law definition is the same in criminal and tort law. Traditionally, common law legal systems have separate definitions for assault and battery. Sheila Y. Oliver (born July 14, 1952) is an American politician serving as the second lieutenant governor of New Jersey since 2018. New Jersey Senate
The New Jersey Senate was established as the upper house of the New Jersey Legislature by the Constitution of 1844, replacing the Legislative Council. There are 40 legislative districts, representing districts with an average population of 232,225 (2020 figure). Each district has one senator and two members of the New Jersey General Assembly, the lower house of the legislature. Prior to the election in which they are chosen, senators must be a minimum of 30 years old and a resident of the state for four years to be eligible to serve in office. From 1844 until 1965 (when the ''Reynolds v. New Jersey's 34th Legislative District is one of 40 districts that make up the map for the New Jersey Legislature. It encompasses the Essex County municipalities of East Orange, Montclair, and Orange and the Passaic County city of Clifton.
