Lazaros Papadopoulos
Lazaros Papadopoulos (Greek: Λάζαρος Παπαδόπουλος; born 3 June 1980) is a Greek former professional basketball player. He was listed at 7 ft (2.13 m) 265 lbs (120 kg), and he played the center position. During his playing career, he was best known for his signature skyhook move. Papadopoulos played with several teams in Europe throughout his professional club career, and he most notably won the EuroLeague twice, in 2002 with Panathinaikos and in 2012 with Olympiacos. He was an All-EuroLeague Second Team selection in 2007. He represented the Greece national team and won the gold medal at the 2005 EuroBasket and the silver medal at the 2006 FIBA World Championship. Lazaros Papadopoulos ( el, Λάζαρος Παπαδόπουλος; born 16 August 1950) is a Greek former professional footballer who played as right midfielder and a manager. Club career Papadopoulos started his career at the club of his hometown, Veria. He was transferred to AEK Athens, in the summer of 1974. At the time, the presence of many notable footballers in the team's roster did not leave much room for his establishment in the basic squad. However, Papadopoulos manage to help the club in contributing to the club to their glorious days both domestically and internationally. On 1 October 1975 he scored his first goal in the UEFA competitions in the 3–1 home win against Vojvodina for the UEFA Cup. He was a part of the squad that reached to the semi-finals of the UEFA Cup in the 1977. The FIBA U18 European Championship, originally known as the European Championship for Juniors, is a youth men's basketball competition that was inaugurated with the 1964 edition. It was held biennially through the 2002 edition. From the 2004 edition onward, it has been held every year. The 2005 FIBA European Championship, commonly called FIBA EuroBasket 2005, was the 34th FIBA EuroBasket regional basketball championship held by FIBA Europe. It also served as Europe qualifier for the 2006 FIBA World Championship, giving a berth to the top six teams in the final standings. It was held in Serbia and Montenegro between 16 September and 25 September 2005. Sixteen national teams entered the event under the auspices of FIBA Europe, the sport's regional governing body. The 2006 FIBA World Championship was the 15th FIBA World Championship, the international basketball world championship for men's national teams. The tournament was hosted by Japan and held from 19 August to 3 September 2006. It was co-organised by the International Basketball Federation (FIBA), Japan Basketball Association (JABBA) and the 2006 Organising Committee. The HEBA Greek All-Star Game, also known as the EKO Greek All-Star Game for sponsorship reasons, is the All-Star Game of the HEBA (Greek: ΕΣΑΚΕ) Greek professional basketball association for men.
