Layton, Florida
Layton is a city on the island of Long Key in Monroe County, Florida, United States. The population was 184 at the 2010 census. As of 2018, the population estimated by the U.S. Census Bureau was 189. History of Layton In the late 19th century, Long Key was used as a coconut plantation. By 1910, Layton was becoming famous as a fishing destination, thanks in part to promotion by sports writer Zane Grey. However, the developing tourist infrastructure on Long Key, including a station on the Overseas Railroad, was largely destroyed by the Labor Day Hurricane of 1935. After World War II, Mary and Del Layton (born 1906), who ran a grocery business in Miami, bought on Long Key and started developing the property as "Layton's Long Key Fishing Camp", which grew substantially over the succeeding years. ''The Laytons'' is an American sitcom that was broadcast on the now defunct DuMont Television Network, from August to October 1948. The series starred Amanda Randolph, who became the first African-American performer in a regular role on a U.S. network TV series. It co-starred Vera Tatum and Broadway actress Elizabeth Brew. Overview According to ''The Complete Directory to Prime Time Network and Cable TV Shows 1946–Present'' by Tim Brooks and Earle Marsh, "little is known about the content of this early series". Professor Hershel Layton
is the eponymous main protagonist of the ''Professor Layton'' series, created by Level-5, in which he and his apprentice Luke Triton investigate mysteries while solving various brain teasers. He also appears in an animated movie, ''Professor Layton and the Eternal Diva'', and has featured in manga and novels that have not been released in English. His birth name was revealed to be Theodore Bronev in '' Azran Legacy''. Layton station is a FrontRunner commuter rail station in Layton, Utah. It is operated by the Utah Transit Authority (UTA). Description The station is located at 150 South Main Street ( SR-126) on approximately 12.5 acres of land and is easily accessed from I-15 by way of the new Layton Parkway interchange. The station is near the south end of Layton's historic downtown area, which had suffered from a hard-to-access location in a highly acute wedge bounded by I-15 on the northeast and the railroad tracks on the southwest. The railroad tracks have also presented enough of a barrier that the area west of the station and the tracks is still undeveloped despite its proximity to the historic downtown.
