Lawrie Thomson
Lawrence James "Lawrie" Thomson (26 August 1936 – 10 March 2006) was a Scottish footballer who played as a forward. He represented Scotland at Youth level. Lawrie began his senior career at Scottish Junior club Bo'ness United. In 1955 he joined Scottish League club Partick Thistle where he won a 1958 Scottish League Cup runners-up medal. Early in 1960 Lawrie moved to English League Carlisle United but returned to Scotland with St Johnstone at the start of the 1960–61 season. He subsequently moved to Alloa Athletic for the 1962-63 campaign. Thereafter until his retirement from playing in 1972 Lawrie appeared for a series of English non-league Southern League teams: Ashford Town (Kent); Margate; Folkestone; Hastings United and Canterbury City. Menstrie
Menstrie (Scottish Gaelic: ) is a village in the county of Clackmannanshire in Scotland. It is about east-northeast of Stirling and is one of a string of towns that, because of their location at the foothill base of the Ochil Hills, are collectively referred to as the Hillfoots Villages or simply ''The Hillfoots''. Etymology The name ''Menstrie'', recorded as ''Mestreth'' and ''Mestryn'' in the 1260s, is of Pictish origin. The name is composed of elements cognate to Welsh , meaning 'field, plain', and , 'town, village, farm'. Physical geography Menstrie stands on the carse or flood plain of the River Devon, between 10 and 20 metres altitude above sea level. It is roughly astride the Ochil Fault whose movement gave rise to the dramatic southern scarp of the Ochils but which is now almost quiescent. The Scottish Football League (SFL) was a league featuring professional and semi-professional football clubs mostly from Scotland.One club, Berwick Rangers, is based in the town of Berwick-upon-Tweed, which is located approximately 4 km south of the Anglo-Scottish border. From its foundation in 1890 until the breakaway Scottish Premier League (SPL) was formed in 1998, the SFL was the top level of football in Scotland. After 1998, the SFL represented levels 2 to 4 of the Scottish football league system. In June 2013, the SFL merged with the SPL to form the Scottish Professional Football League. Southern Football League
The Southern League is a men's football competition featuring semi-professional clubs from the South and Midlands of England. Together with the Isthmian League and the Northern Premier League it forms levels seven and eight of the English football league system. The structure of the Southern League has changed several times since its formation in 1894, and currently there are 84 clubs which are divided into four divisions. The Central and South Divisions are at step 3 of the National League System (NLS), and are feeder divisions, mainly to the National League South but also to the National League North. The Football League
The English Football League (EFL) is a league of professional football clubs from England and Wales. Founded in 1888 as the Football League, the league is the oldest such competition in the world. It was the top-level football league in England from its foundation until 1992, when the top 22 clubs split from it to form the Premier League. The EFL is divided into the Championship, League One and League Two, with 24 clubs in each division, 72 in total, with promotion and relegation between them; the top Championship clubs change places with the lowest-placed clubs in the Premier League, and the bottom clubs of League Two with the top clubs of the National League.
