Lawrence Williams (cricketer)
David Lawrence Williams (20 November 1946 – 26 May 2023) was a Welsh cricketer who played for Glamorgan from 1969 to 1977. In his first season, he took 52 Championship wickets at 21.36 to help them win only their second title. Williams was born in Neath on 20 November 1946. He appeared in 151 first-class matches as a right-arm fast-medium pace bowler and left-handed batsman. He took 364 wickets with a best performance of seven for 60 against Lancashire at Blackpool in 1970, and scored 403 runs with a highest score of 37 not out. Tonna, Neath
Tonna ( cy, Tonnau) is the name of a village and community in Neath Port Talbot, Wales, located to the north-east of Neath. Immediately between Tonna and the adjoining parish of Llanilltud ("Llantwit-juxta-Neath") is a cottage once occupied by the Welsh-born engineer and naturalist Alfred Russel Wallace, who had arrived at his theory of evolution independently of Charles Darwin, with whom he later corresponded. Eventually Wallace and Darwin jointly presented the first paper on Natural Selection to the Linnean Society. The village's rugby union team is Tonna RFC. Bowling, in cricket, is the action of propelling the ball toward the wicket defended by a batter. In cricket, a run is the unit of scoring. The team with the most runs wins in many versions of the game, and always draws at worst (see result), except for some results decided by the DLS method, which is used in rain-shortened limited-overs games when the two teams have had a different number of opportunities to score runs. One run (known as a "single") is scored when the two batters (the striker and the non-striker) start off positioned at opposite ends of the pitch (which has a length of 22 yards) and then they each arrive safely at the other end of the pitch (i.e. they cross each other without being run out). Seam Bowling
Seam bowling is a bowling technique in cricket whereby the ball is deliberately bowled on to its seam, to cause a random deviation when the ball bounces. Practitioners are known as ''seam bowlers'' or seamers. Seam bowling is generally classed as a subtype of fast bowling, although the bowling speeds at which seam can be a factor include medium-pace bowling.
