Stepney is a small triangular near-city suburb of Adelaide within the City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters. North Adelaide is a predominantly residential precinct and suburb of the City of Adelaide in South Australia, situated north of the River Torrens and within the Adelaide Park Lands. History Surveyor-General Colonel William Light of the colony of South Australia completed the survey for the capital city of Adelaide by 10 March 1837. Sir Lawrence Walter Jackson KCMG (1914 – 5 June 1993) was a Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Western Australia. He was appointed as a Supreme Court Judge in 1949 and became Chief Justice in 1969. He retired in 1977, and died in 1993. A son, Lawrence Alton Jackson, was a judge in the District Court of Western Australia from 13 July 1992 until his retirement on 16 February 2004. The Chief Justice of Western Australia is the most senior judge of the Supreme Court of Western Australia and the highest ranking judicial officer in the Australian state of Western Australia. The chief justice is both the judicial head of the Supreme Court as well as the administrative head. The chief justice is responsible for arranging the business of the court and establishing its rules and procedures.
