Lavoslav Vukelić
Lavoslav Vukelić (; 20 March 1840 — 26 March 1879) was a Croatian translator and poet. Biography Lavoslav Vukelić was born into the noble family Vukelić whose ancestors had long ago moved to Lika from Dalmatia with many others and converted to Roman Catholicism. Vukelić completed his elementary and secondary school in Senj. Then he went to Vienna to pursue a management course on a stipend from the Military Frontier authorities. After that, he returned to Lika, where he served as an officer in many places. In his senior years, he was transferred to Sveti Križ Začretje as an officer. There he appointed prefect secretary. Work He is an author of 79 songs which were collected by Bude Budisavljević in a booklet entitled ''Literary Flowers'' ( hr, Književno cvieće). Also, he translated works by English, German, Polish, Russian, Italian, and Slovenian authors. Bude Budisavljević
Bude (; kw, Porthbud) is a seaside town in north east Cornwall, England, in the civil parish of Bude-Stratton and at the mouth of the River Neet (also known locally as the River Strat). Dimitrija Demeter
Dimitrios Dimitriou ( gr, Δημήτριος Δημητρίου, sometimes spelled Dimitrija Demeter or Dimitrije Demeter; 21 July 1811 – 24 June 1872) was a Greek Croatian poet, dramatist, short story writer and literary critic. One of the most learned people of his time, he played a major role in the movement for the national awakening of the Croatian nation (then under Austro-Hungarian rule) as part of what he and his close friend and colleague Ljudevit Gaj called the Illyrian people by imposing the Croatian language in the local literacy and with the creation of the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb. Ognjeslav Utješenović
Ognjeslav Utješenović Ostrožinski (spelled Utješinović in some sources; sr-Cyrl, Огњеслав Утјешеновић Острожински; 21 August 1817 – 8 June 1890) was a politician and writer. He is mainly remembered for his role in the Illyrian movement led by Ljudevit Gaj which promoted unity among South Slavs and called for Croatia's independence at the time when the country was part of Austria-Hungary. August Harambašić (14 July 1861 – 16 July 1911) was a Croatian writer, poet, publisher, politician and translator from the 19th century. He was born in Donji Miholjac, and studied law in Vienna and Zagreb. Politically he followed the sharp line of Ante Starčević's Croatian Party of Rights, which landed him in jail several times. He was a representative in the Croatian Parliament from 1901. He was an editor and reporter for various periodicals. He died in Zagreb. Petar Preradović (19 March 1818 – 18 August 1872) was a Croatian poet, writer, and military general. He was one of the most important Croatian poets of the 19th century Illyrian movement and the main representative of romanticism in Croatia. He was also the paternal grandfather of the Austrian writer and poet Paula Preradović, who is best known for composing the lyrics of the Austrian national anthem.
