Lavadero, Hormigueros, Puerto Rico
Lavadero is a Barrios of Puerto Rico, barrio in the municipality of Hormigueros, Puerto Rico. Its population in 2010 was 4,305. History Puerto Rico was ceded by Spain in the aftermath of the Spanish–American War under the terms of the Treaty of Paris of 1898 and became an Insular area, unincorporated territory of the United States. In 1899, the United States Department of War conducted a census of Puerto Rico finding that the combined population of Lavadero and Benavente, Hormigueros, Puerto Rico, Benavente barrios was 1,047. Sectors Barrios (which are roughly comparable to minor civil divisions) in turn are further subdivided into smaller local populated place areas/units called sectores (''sectors'' in English). A commonwealth is a traditional English term for a political community founded for the common good. Historically, it has been synonymous with "republic". The noun "commonwealth", meaning "public welfare, general good or advantage", dates from the 15th century.
