Laurie Monnes Anderson
Laurie Monnes Anderson (born December 31, 1945) is an American Democratic politician who most recently served in the Oregon Senate, representing District 25 in eastern Multnomah County, Oregon, including parts of the cities of Fairview, Gresham, Troutdale, and Wood Village. She previously served two terms in the Oregon House of Representatives. Early life and career Born Laurie Monnes in Coronado, California, she grew up in Gresham, Oregon, one of four children of Bud and Ellene Groening Monnes, who were both teachers. She graduated from Gresham High School and received a bachelor's degree in biology from Willamette University in 1968, and a master's in biology from the University of Colorado in 1972. In 1981, she earned a degree in nursing from Radford University. She married and raised two children, divorcing in 1985. Oregon State Senate
The Oregon State Senate is the upper house of the statewide legislature for the US state of Oregon. Along with the lower chamber Oregon House of Representatives it makes up the Oregon Legislative Assembly. Fairview, Oregon
Fairview is a city in Multnomah County, Oregon, United States. As of the 2010 census, the city population was 8,920. History Members of the Multnomah tribe of Chinookan Indians lived in a village near the Columbia River (the future site of Fairview) when the Lewis and Clark Expedition visited the area in 1806. By the 1840s and 1850s, white settlers began hay, grain, and livestock operations in what would become eastern Multnomah County. Railroad tracks extended to the area by the 1890s, and, as the population grew, residents began referring to the locale as Fairview because of the pleasing views of the nearby river, the Columbia River Gorge, and Mount Hood. Since another community named Fairview already existed on the Oregon Coast, the community's first post office was named Cleone until the coastal post office closed and the name was transferred to Fairview. Gresham High School (Oregon)
Gresham High School is a public high school located in Gresham, Oregon, United States. History Gresham High School opened in 1906. There have since been several improvements to grounds and buildings, expansions, and classroom additions. In 1971, the original grandstands, made completely of wood, burned to the ground in less than 30 minutes. In 2016 the Gresham-Barlow School District and the voters of Gresham passed a bond to replace most parts of the school, with construction beginning in 2018. The project was completed in 2021. Until the recent remodel, the school still had asbestos tiling and pipe insulation throughout the building and numerous architectural faults.
