The Secret Voyage Of Magellan
''The'' () is a grammatical article in English, denoting persons or things that are already or about to be mentioned, under discussion, implied or otherwise presumed familiar to listeners, readers, or speakers. It is the definite article in English. ''The'' is the most frequently used word in the English language; studies and analyses of texts have found it to account for seven percent of all printed English-language words. It is derived from gendered articles in Old English which combined in Middle English and now has a single form used with nouns of any gender. The word can be used with both singular and plural nouns, and with a noun that starts with any letter. This is different from many other languages, which have different forms of the definite article for different genders or numbers. Pronunciation In most dialects, "the" is pronounced as (with the voiced dental fricative followed by a schwa) when followed by a consonant sound, and as (homophone of the archaic ...

Where In North Dakota Is Carmen Sandiego?
''Where in North Dakota Is Carmen Sandiego?'' is a 1989 edutainment video game. It is the fourth game in the Carmen Sandiego video game series after ''Where in the World Is Carmen Sandiego? (1985), World'' (1985), ''Where in the U.S.A. Is Carmen Sandiego? (1986), U.S.A.'' (1986), and ''Where in Europe Is Carmen Sandiego?, Europe'' (1988). Having observed the popularity of the Carmen Sandiego franchise in the education of school children, educators were inspired to develop a North Dakota version to teach North Dakotans about their state's history and geography. In contrast to the previous titles which were developed internally by Broderbund, ''North Dakota'' was largely developed for the Apple II series, Apple II by a team of fourteen educators led by computer coordinator Craig Nansen, concept designer Bonny Berryman, and co-chairwoman Mary Littler collectively known as the North Dakota Database Committee (NDDC) of the Minot Public Schools, who made the game idea a reality. Where In Space Is Carmen Sandiego?
''Where in Space Is Carmen Sandiego?'' (also with a ''Deluxe'' suffix) is an educational video game by Broderbund and Electronic Arts. Gameplay With only minor aesthetic changes to the interface, the game is familiar to anyone who played the previous entrants. Each investigation follows a variation on the classic ''Carmen Sandiego'' formula: Sandiego or one of her gang has stolen something, and players need to collect evidence across the Solar System in order to obtain an arrest warrant before capturing the villain de jour. Research into topics of space exploration— classical astronomy, constellations, contemporary exploratory efforts (e.g. the ''Viking'' program), and more—is needed to succeed in capturing the master thief and her 14 "henchthings". After capturing several gang members, the player will begin receiving increasingly obscure clues. The chief of detectives issues each assignment: a valuable artifact has been stolen from somewhere in the Solar Syst ...

Where In America's Past Is Carmen Sandiego?
''Where in America's Past Is Carmen Sandiego?'' is the 5th educational video game in the ''Carmen Sandiego'' series. It was produced by Broderbund and released in 1991. Gameplay The game includes 45 geographic locations, and 9 different historical eras to travel to. This far outweighs the number of travel destinations in the 1985 '' Where in the World Is Carmen Sandiego?'' game. Carmen and her henchmen are involved with some of American history's most iconic moments, including the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Development The scenery for the locations came from photographs that were digitized and pixelated. Reception ''PC Magazine'' said the game "offers complexities of plot and graphics that make the original ''Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego'' seem almost bland by comparison". It said the game "won't disappoint adventure hungry Carmen fans" and that "as edutainment, this game is fun and challenging". '' Compute!'' named it a "Compute Choice", calling ...

Under the guidance of The Acme Agency's chief, the player completes cases to catch Carmen's henchmen; they accomplish this by traveling to European cities to find clues relating to the crook's last known whereabouts, and by gaining enough character data to issue a warrant of arrest. Once the player has captured all 15 thieves, they can pursue Carmen herself. Critics noted that the game followed the design of its ''Carmen Sandiego'' predecessors, and gave it generally favourable reviews. Development The game intended to improve players' ski ...
