Laura Kutika
Laura Guliamo Luyeye Kutika (born 24 August 1984) is a Congolese film director and writer. Biography Kutika was born in Kinshasa, Zaire. From 2001 to 2003 she was a co-writer for the television series ''Kinshasa Hôtel''. She obtained a literary baccalaureate and studied law at the University of Kinshasa. Before she completed her studies, Kutika decided to pursue her passion for writing and take a training course in television and radio scriptwriting. In 2002, she was a co-writer for a radio soap opera, ''Center Lokole de Kinshasa''. Kutika moved to France in 2003 to work on directing. In 2009, Kutika was the assistant director of the short film ''Entre chat et chien'' by Barbara Barbet. Kutika directed the short film ''Vas-y fonce'' in May 2011. In 2012, she wrote her first novel, ''Seule, face au destin''. Kutika directed ''Moumoune et moi'' in 2013. Her second book, ''À nos actes manqués'', was published in 2014. Kinshasa
Kinshasa (; ; ln, Kinsásá), formerly Léopoldville ( nl, Leopoldstad), is the capital and largest city of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Once a site of fishing and trading villages situated along the Congo River, Kinshasa is now one of the world's fastest growing megacities. The city of Kinshasa is also one of the DRC's 26 provinces. Because the administrative boundaries of the city-province cover a vast area, over 90 percent of the city-province's land is rural in nature, and the urban area occupies a small but expanding section on the western side. The University of Kinshasa (french: Université de Kinshasa), commonly known as UNIKIN, is one of the three major universities in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, together with the University of Kisangani and University of Lubumbashi. Originally founded in 1954 as Lovanium University during Belgian colonial rule, the current university was established following the division of the National University of Zaire (UNAZA) in 1981. It is located in Kinshasa. The university had an enrollment of 29,554 and a faculty and research staff of 1,929 in the 2018–19 academic year, and currently has twelve academic divisions. Elisabeth Finant (9 November 1954 – 28 September 1994), known professionally as Abeti Masikini, was a singer from the Belgian Congo who was active in France from 1971 until her death in 1994 at the age of 39. Her music pulled from a variety of genres, including soukous, Congolese rumba, folk music, and the blues. She recorded 21 albums during her career for a variety of record labels including RCA Records and Polygram Records among others.
