Laura Jones (born 1975) is a British television journalist who is best known for her work on the popular children's television programme Newsround. She was born in Aberystwyth, Wales, but spent most of her childhood in Lampeter, also in Wales. Laura worked as a journalist for BBC News in Wales before joining Newsround in 2002. During her career to date Jones has reported from locations across the world, including a visit to New Orleans in 2005 to report on the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Laura Jones (born 1951) is an Australian screenwriter. Jones started her career writing teleplays for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. Her first feature film credit was the original screenplay for ''High Tide'' (1987), directed by Gillian Armstrong and starring Judy Davis. This was followed by her adaptation of the Janet Frame autobiography, ''An Angel at My Table'' (1990), which was directed by Jane Campion. She collaborated again with Campion, this time on ''The Portrait of a Lady'' (1996). The following years saw her team up with Armstrong on ''Oscar and Lucinda'', as well as work on other literary adaptations for Hollywood. Laura Jones (born October 15, 1969) is an American former soccer player who played as a defender, making one appearance for the United States women's national team. Career Jones played basketball and volleyball for the Esperanza Aztecs in high school, while playing club soccer for the Nightmares youth team in Los Angeles. In college, she played for the Colorado College Tigers from 1987 to 1990, having been offered an athletic scholarship by Colorado College. In total, she scored seventeen goals and recorded six assists for the Tigers. She was a Second-Team All-American in 1988 and 1989, and was included in the Senior Recognition Team selection in 1990. Jones was selected to compete at the U.S. Olympic Festival in 1986 and 1989. Laura Anne Jones (born 21 February 1979) is a Conservative politician who has been the Member of the Senedd (MS) for the South Wales East electoral region since July 2020, having previously held the same seat as an Assembly Member (AM) in the National Assembly for Wales between 2003 and 2007.
