Laugharne Township (electoral Ward)
Laugharne Township ( cy, Lacharn) is the name of an electoral ward for Carmarthenshire County Council in Carmarthenshire, Wales. It is represented by one county councillor. As well as the town of Laugharne, the ward also covers the neighbouring communities of Eglwyscummin, Llanddowror and Pendine. It includes the villages and settlements of Broadway, Halfpenny Furze, Llandawke, Llanddowror, Llanmiloe, Llansadwrnen, Marros, Pendine, Plashett and Red Roses. The usual population of this ward at the 2011 census was 2,851. A 2019 boundary review by the Local Government Boundary Commission for Wales recommended the name of the ward be changed to 'Laugharne' with the Welsh name 'Lacharn' (though Laugharne Township Community Council preferred 'Talacharn'). It recommended no changes to the ward boundaries. A ward is a local authority area, typically used for electoral purposes. 2004 Carmarthenshire County Council Election
The third election to the Carmarthenshire County Council in Wales was held in May 2004. It was preceded by the 1999 election and followed by the 2008 election. As in previous elections, the Independent councillors had the largest number of seats. This resulted in a coalition between Independent and Labour Councillors for the next four years. Media Wales Ltd. is a publishing company based in Cardiff, Wales. As of 2009 it was owned by Reach plc (formerly known as the Trinity Mirror Group). It was previously known as the Western Mail & Echo Ltd. History The ''Western Mail'' was founded in 1869 by the 3rd Marquess of Bute as a Conservative newspaper. In 1893, the original building in St. Mary Street was destroyed by fire and a new building was opened also in St Mary Street two years later. 2022 Carmarthenshire County Council Election
The 2022 Carmarthenshire County Council election took place on Thursday 5 May 2022 to elect 75 members to Carmarthenshire Council. On the same day, elections were held to the other 21 local authorities and to community councils in Wales as part of the 2022 Welsh local elections. Plaid Cymru won a majority of seats for the first time, whilst losing their leader, Emlyn Dole. Welsh Labour regained some ground in Carmarthenshire by winning seats in the Amman Valley and Llanelli constituency from Plaid Cymru. New Independent lost one seat overall and their leader, Jeff Edmunds and the Conservatives' only Councillor, Shahana Najmi, also lost her seat. Red Roses
Red Roses ( cy, Rhos-goch, "red moor") is a village in Carmarthenshire, Wales. Situated in south-west Carmarthenshire, the village forms part of the Eglwyscummin community, and with Ciffig and Marros, forms part of the Laugharne Township electoral ward. The A477 trunk road, the main route to south Pembrokeshire from the A40 used to run through the centre of the village; the bypass to the north of the village was opened in April 2014. The village centre is at the crossroads of the previous A477 and the B4314. The village community centre was built in 2008, occupying where a Methodist Chapel had been. Surrounded by farmland, the village is near a number of holiday destinations and has two holiday parks; one for static caravans and one for touring caravans. Carmarthenshire County Council ( cy, Cyngor Sir Gaerfyrddin) is the local authority for the county of Carmarthenshire, Wales. It provides a range of services including education, planning, transport, social services and public safety.
