Latvia In The Eurovision Song Contest 2006
Latvia participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2006 with the song "I Hear Your Heart" written by Andris Sējāns, Reinis Sējāns, Guntars Račs and Molly-Ann Leikin. The song was performed by the group Cosmos. The Latvian broadcaster Latvijas Televīzija (LTV) organised the national final ''Eirodziesma 2006'' in order to select the Latvian entry for the 2006 contest in Athens, Greece. Twenty songs were selected to compete in the national final, which consisted of three shows: two semi-finals and a final. In the semi-finals on 4 and 11 February 2006, five entries were selected to advance from each show: three entries selected based on a public televote and two entries selected by a five-member jury panel. Ten songs ultimately qualified to compete in the final on 11 March 2006 where two rounds of public voting selected "I Hear Your Heart" performed by Cosmos as the winner. Cosmos (band)
Cosmos was a Latvian a cappella band that formed in Riga in 2002. The band comprised singers Jānis Šipkēvics, Andris Sējāns (both countertenors), Juris Lisenko (tenor), Jānis Ozols (baritone), Jānis Strazdiņš ( bass) and Reinis Sējāns (rhythm). Cosmos gained national and international recognition after they were chosen to represent Latvia in the 2006 Eurovision Song Contest held in Athens, Greece with the song "I Hear Your Heart". Amberlife
Amberlife (born Edgaras Lubys on 17 August 1983 in Klaipėda) is a popular Lithuanian musician and songwriter. He collaborated with the well-known Lithuanian production company Cactus which led to an international career. He released three albums and was known in Latvia, Russia and Scandinavia. A limited edition CD (3,000 copies), ''In Your Eyes'', was released in January 2004 with all of the songs from Amberlife's first album plus four versions of "In Your Eyes". A video for "In Your Eyes" was filmed in Stockholm where he was photographed by Bingo Rimer, who has worked with Steven Tyler from Aerosmith, Backstreet Boys and others. Brian Kennedy (singer)
Brian Edward Patrick Kennedy (born 12 October 1966) is a Northern Irish singer. He scored a number of hit singles and albums in the UK and Ireland during the 1990s and 2000s. He represented Ireland in the Eurovision Song Contest 2006 and finished in 10th place. Brian is the younger brother of the late musician Bap Kennedy. Ireland participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2006 with the song "Every Song Is a Cry for Love" written and performed by Brian Kennedy, who was internally selected in November 2005 by the Irish broadcaster Raidió Teilifís Éireann (RTÉ) to represent the nation at the 2006 contest in Athens, Greece. Sandra Oxenryd (born 1 October 1982) is a Swedish singer who won Fame Factory in 2005, and represented Estonia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2006. Biography Oxenryd was born in Kristinehamn and is a former economics student and floorball player. Aged eleven, she started her singing career by performing on national television. Ojārs Raimonds Pauls (born 12 January 1936 in Iļģuciems, Riga, Latvia) is a Latvian composer and piano player who is well known in Latvia, Russia, post-Soviet countries and worldwide.
