The Latin Grammy Award for Best Tango Album has been presented every year since the 1st Latin Grammy Awards ceremony. The description of the category at the 2020 Latin Grammy Awards states that it is "for vocal or instrumental albums that contain at least 51% of total play time recorded with new material or material by traditional authors. Fusions with other musical genres will be eligible, provided that the Tango genre is substantially maintained in the judgement of the Ad Hoc committee." Spanish singer Diego el Cigala is the only artist to receive the award more than once with two wins, in 2011 and 2013. Argentine musicians Rodolfo Mederos and Leopoldo Federico hold the record of most nominations in the category with six each. Hybrid Tango
Hybrid Tango is a side project by the members of Buenos Aires-based electronic neo-tango band Tanghetto. Also named Hybrid Tango Project. Released in December 2004, ''Hybrid Tango'' contains twelve instrumental tracks in which, apart from the blend of electronic music and tango that is the distinctive sound of ''Tanghetto'', there are plenty of world-music styles such as flamenco, candombe, and jazz. Acoustic sounds (bandoneón, piano, guitar, cello, and even the Chinese stringed instrument, the erhu) are more predominant than in ''Tanghettos debut album '' Emigrante (Electrotango)''. The album was produced and mixed by Max Masri. The album was nominated for a Latin Grammy Award in 2005 and reached gold status in Argentina. Orquesta El Arranque is an Argentine tango orchestra formed in Buenos Aires in 1996. History Founded by double bassist Ignacio Varchausky and bandoneonist Camilo Ferrero and starting off as a quintet, El Arranque developed a repertoire that was readily embraced by the tango community, and by the end of their first year El Arranque had already performed over 200 shows in Argentine theatres and milongas (tango dance halls). Gerardo Gandini (Buenos Aires (Argentina), October 16, 1936 – Buenos Aires, March 22, 2013) was a pianist, composer, and music director, who became one of the most relevant figures of contemporary Argentine music of the second half of the 20th century. He studied composition with Goffredo Petrassi and Alberto Ginastera, and piano with Roberto Caamaño, Pía Sebastiani, and Ivonne Loriod. Susana Natividad Rinaldi was born om December 25, 1935 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She is an Argentine tango singer. Biography Susana Natividad Rinaldi was born to a wealthy father and a poor mother in Buenos Aires in 1935. Dubbed "La Tana" (in reference to her Italian origins), she spent her childhood moving throughout different provinces of Argentina. She began studying chamber singing at the National Conservatory of Music at age 14, and in 1955 she entered the School of Dramatic Art. Two years later, she made her television debut and in 1959 debuted on the stage. When she was asked to record a poetry concert in 1966 she offered them a tango album, and by the end of that year her first album, with music arranged by bandoneón virtuoso Roberto Pansera, was released. Her success over time prompted her to give up acting and to instead pursue a career as a singer. Julia Trzenko (born 30 October 1958) better known as Julia Zenko, is an Argentine singer and actress. Biography Zenko was born in the La Paternal neighborhood, and she lived there until she was six years old with her parents and brother. She then she moved with her family to Villa Devoto.
