The Latin Grammy Award for Best Classical Album is an honor presented annually at the Latin Grammy Awards, a ceremony that recognizes excellence and promotes awareness of cultural diversity and the contributions of Latin musicians in the United States and worldwide. The award is given every year since the 1st Latin Grammy Awards ceremony, which took place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. The description of the category at the 2020 Latin Grammy Awards states that "it encompasses movements of works that include from opera to compositions for symphony orchestras, instrumental or vocal soloists, chamber ensembles, choral music, electroacoustic music, etc." and includes classical music albums "in which participants are predominantly Latino composers, directors or performers in any of its forms: composition, performance, direction." Eduardo Diazmuñoz
Eduardo Diazmuñoz is a highly prolific Mexican-Spanish-American conductor, composer and arranger, performer and educator. He studied piano, cello, percussion, and conducting at the National Conservatory of Music (Mexico). In 1978, 1979 he became associate conductor of the newly founded the Mexico City Philharmonic Orchestra. Bernstein invited him to Tanglewood in 1979. He assisted in preparation for concertos of Leonard Bernstein and Eduardo Mata. In 1980-1982 assisted Léon Barzin in Paris. Diazmuñoz made his debut at Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico City at 22. The 4th Annual Latin Grammy Awards were held in Miami at the American Airlines Arena on Wednesday, September 3, 2003. It was the first time the telecast was held outside of Los Angeles. Juanes was the night's biggest winner winning a record five awards including Album of the Year. He tied his own record winning five awards again five years later in 2008. Cuarteto Latinoamericano is one of the world's most renowned string quartets and, for forty years, the leading proponent of Latin American music for the genre. María José Montiel
María José Montiel (born 24 June 1968) is a Spanish mezzo-soprano opera singer born in Madrid. In 2011 she was awarded the '' Premio Teatro Campoamor'' for her interpretation of '' Carmen'' by the Fundación Premio Líricos Teatro Campoamor. Life and career Montiel was born in Madrid. She graduated in vocal performance at the Madrid Conservatory where she studied under Pedro Lavirgen and Ana María Iriarte, before moving to Vienna for further training with Sena Jurinac and Olivera Miljakovic. María Guinand
Maria Guinand (born 1953 in Caracas, Venezuela) is an internationally renowned choral conductor. María Guinand received her bachelor's and master's degrees in music from the University of Bristol, England, in 1976 and 1982, respectively. Guinand then earned a Choral Conductor Diploma from the Youth Orchestra Academy in Caracas in 1980. Her leadership positions have included being the dean of the Jose Angel Lamas Music School and of the Simón Bolívar University in Caracas where she is a professor of music. Roberto Kolb Neuhaus (1951, Mexico) is a Mexican musicologist and oboist of Austrian origin. He is widely known for his researches of Mexican composer Silvestre Revueltas. He has written many books and essays about the composer published in Mexico, United States, Vienna, and Berlin. He has been invited to musical congresses worldwide. In 1998 he published the first complete catalogue of Revueltas's works. He is the leading authority on Revueltas music. He studied at the Conservatory of The Hague where he obtained a degree in oboe and a special degree in English horn. He has also studied baroque oboe, composition and sociology of music. Benjamin Juarez Echenique is a music conductor and scholar with over four decades of experience in the arts, and was born in Mexico City on July 17, 1951. He studied in Mexico at the National School of Music, National University of Mexico, the California Institute of the Arts, where he obtained his Master of Fine Arts in Music, as well as in Italy, France and England. Ana María Martínez (born 1971) is a Puerto Rican soprano. Early life Martínez was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico; she is the daughter of Puerto Rican opera singer Evangelína Colón and Cuban psychoanalyst Ángel Martínez.
