This is a list of comic books featuring Superman and related characters. Ongoing titles featuring Superman in a starring role ''Action Comics'' ''Action Comics'' began in 1938. ''Action Comics'' #1 featured the introduction of Superman. Thirteen ''Annual''s have also been published between 1987 and 2011 (1987–1997 and 2007–2011). Issue #0 (October 1994) was published between issues #703 and 704 during the ''Zero Hour: Crisis in Time!'' crossover event and issue #1,000,000 (November 1998) was published between #748 and 749 during the "DC One Million" crossover event. In all, 906 issues (904 regulars, plus one #0 issue and one #1,000,000 issue) of ''Action Comics'' were published before ''The New 52s relaunch of the title in September 2011. Comic Books
A comic book, also called comicbook, comic magazine or (in the United Kingdom and Ireland) simply comic, is a publication that consists of comics art in the form of sequential juxtaposed panels that represent individual scenes. Panels are often accompanied by descriptive prose and written narrative, usually, dialogue contained in word balloons emblematic of the comics art form. "Comic Cuts" was a British comic published from 1890 to 1953. It was preceded by "Ally Sloper's Half Holiday" (1884) which is notable for its use of sequential cartoons to unfold narrative. These British comics existed alongside of the popular lurid "Penny dreadfuls" (such as "Spring-heeled Jack"), boys' " Story papers" and the humorous Punch (magazine) which was the first to use the term "cartoon" in its modern sense of a humorous drawing. ''Comic Book Resources'', also known by the initialism CBR, is a website dedicated to the coverage of comic book–related news and discussion. History Comic Book Resources was founded by Jonah Weiland in 1995 as a development of the Kingdom Come Message Board, a message forum that Weiland created to discuss DC Comics' then-new mini-series of the same name. Comic Book Resources features columns written by industry professionals that have included Robert Kirkman, Gail Simone, and Mark Millar. Other columns are published by comic book historians and critics such as George Khoury and Timothy Callahan. ''Superman Confidential'' was a monthly comic book series from DC Comics. The series debuted on November 1, 2006 and was canceled in April 2008 after 14 issues. ''Superman Confidential'' featured Superman stories set in the early years of the character’s career. The stories illustrated key moments in the character’s past such as first meetings, critical decisions, alliances, confrontations, and events that shaped him into the character he is today. The creative team on the series rotated. The stories in ''Confidential'' are the earliest points of reference in the character's newly established continuity, since (according to former monthly ''Superman'' writer Kurt Busiek) the character's origin in this new continuity had yet to be established. Krypton (comics)
Krypton is a fictional planet appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics, most commonly appearing or mentioning in stories starring the superhero Superman as the world he came from. The planet was created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, and was named after the chemical element krypton. The planet was first mentioned in ''Action Comics'' #1 (June 1938) and made its first appearance in Superman (comic book), ''Superman'' #1 (1939). Krypton is also the native world of Supergirl (Kara Zor-El), Supergirl, Krypto, Krypto the Superdog, Beppo (comics), Beppo the Super-Monkey, Power Girl (in her case, an alternate-universe version designated "Krypton-Two"), and the supervillain General Zod.
