Art Lasky
Arthur Lakofsky (November 16, 1909 – April 2, 1980), also known as Art Lasky, was a heavyweight professional boxer from Minneapolis, Minnesota. Personal life Lasky was born in Saint Paul, Minnesota on November 8, 1908, and called Minneapolis his home. He was of Russian-Jewish ancestry. Both he and his brother Maurice worked in a scrap metal yard before taking up boxing. His brothers Dave and Eli both had short, but less successful careers as boxers during the depression years of the 1930s. Lasky's brother Maurice acted as his trainer, and trained the boxer Young Harry Greb for a time. After his boxing career ended, Lasky went on to become a cameraman, stunt coordinator, and even dabbled in acting. Bette Lasky
Bette R. Lasky (born March 16, 1947) was a member of the New Hampshire Senate, representing the 13th District from 2008 to 2010, and again from 2012 until her retirement in 2018. During her tenure, Lasky represented Wards 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, and 9 in Nashua, New Hampshire. While on the State Senate she has served as Chair of the Election Law and Veteran's affairs Committee. Lasky has also served as Vice-Chair of the Judiciary Committee, and as a member of the Education Committee, and the Energy, Environment, and Economic Development Committee. Prior to becoming a State Senator, Lasky served in the New Hampshire House of Representatives for five terms, and served as Assistant Majority Leader during the 2007-2008 biennium. David Lasky
David Lasky (born December 8, 1967 in Washington, D.C.) is an alternative cartoonist based in Seattle, Washington. Biography After spending the bulk of his life in Virginia, and graduating from the College of William & Mary, Lasky moved to Seattle in 1992. He quickly found a circle of young comic book artists—including Megan Kelso, Tom Hart, Ed Brubaker, Jon Lewis, and Jason Lutes—drawing and publishing their own work. With them, Lasky aspired to take clichéd or neglected genres of comics and revitalize them with the lessons learned from the first wave of alternative comics. Lasky's first two full-length comic books, ''Arrabbiata Comics'' and ''Monster City Comics,'' were created in collaboration with printmaker Paul Bonelli under the name Fistball Productions. Dorothea Lasky
Dorothea Lasky is an American poet. She has published four full-length collections of poetry through Wave Books and one through Liveright/ W.W. Norton, along with releasing chapbooks and appearing in various literary journals. She is currently an Associate Professor of Poetry at Columbia University School of the Arts. Background and education She was born in St. Louis, Missouri in 1978. She graduated from Ladue Horton Watkins High School in 1996. She earned a BA in classics and psychology from Washington University in St. Louis. She earned her MFA in Poetry from the University of Massachusetts Amherst's MFA Program for Poets & Writers, and her Ed.M. in Arts & Education from Harvard University, and her Ed.D. in Creativity and Education from the University of Pennsylvania. Floria Lasky
Floria V. Lasky (April 24, 1923 – September 21, 2007) was an American lawyer in the theater world, who represented some of the biggest names in American entertainment. Career Lasky was born in the Bronx, New York City. She was named for the eponymous heroine of the opera ''Tosca''. She was the younger sister of American journalist Melvin J. Lasky. She entered Hunter College at the age of 14 and graduated first in her class at New York University's law school in 1945, after which she joined the law firm of Fitelson & Mayers, where she would stay for the next 62 years, eventually becoming a principal partner. Her clients over the years included Jerome Robbins, Tennessee Williams, Burl Ives, David Merrick, Gypsy Rose Lee, Jule Styne, Frederick Loewe and Carson McCullers. Jesse Louis Lasky (September 13, 1880 – January 13, 1958) was an American pioneer motion picture producer who was a key founder of what was to become Paramount Pictures, and father of screenwriter Jesse L. Lasky Jr. Early life Born in to a Jewish family in San Francisco, California, Lasky worked at a variety of jobs but began his entertainment career as a vaudeville performer, playing the cornet in a duo act with his sister Blanche.
