Las Cruces Public Schools
Las Cruces Public Schools (LCPS) is a school district headquartered in Las Cruces, New Mexico. The school district covers the city of Las Cruces as well as White Sands Missile Range, the settlement of Doña Ana, and the town of Mesilla. The system has 24 elementary schools, eight middle schools, and seven high schools. Of the high schools, St. Mary's Catholic high school, Alma D'Arte, Las Montañas, and Arrowhead Park Early College High School are alternative high schools, and there are nearly 25,000 students and 3,600 employees. LCPS is the second-largest school district in New Mexico. History In 1918, Las Cruces Union High School (now just Las Cruces High School) opened in the area. Organ Mountain High School
Organ Mountain High School (OMHS) is one of four public high schools in Las Cruces, New Mexico. As of the 2021-2022 school year, OMHS serves 1,874 students, grades 9-12. The school is a part of the Las Cruces Public Schools District. History Organ Mountain High School was established in 1988 under the name of Oñate High School. It was originally located in what is now Sierra Middle School, and Jeff Pomeroy served as the school's first student body president. Construction of OMHS's current building began in 1991 and was completed in 1993, making it Las Cruces's third public high school after Las Cruces High School (est. 1918) and Mayfield High School (est. 1965). Mayfield High School (MHS) is one of four traditional public high schools in Las Cruces, New Mexico. As of 2009–10, the school has over 2,300 students and 130 teachers, and covers grades 9–12. The school is a part of the Las Cruces Public Schools district. History MHS was opened in 1965 after Las Cruces High School became overcrowded. It became the second high school in Las Cruces. Centennial High School (New Mexico)
Centennial High School is a public high school in Las Cruces, New Mexico, United States, and serves approximately 1,538 students in grades 9-12. It is a part of Las Cruces Public Schools. Construction on the school began in September 2009, was completed and opened for the beginning of the 2012–2013 school year. The first graduation commencement for Centennial High School was held in the Spring of 2014 including both a valedictorian and a salutatorian. The campus includes a personal office for each faculty member; an Autism Student Center which is utilized by all the other schools in the district; and a cyber-café, which is open to students during non-academic hours. Arrowhead Park Early College High School and Medical Academy is a high school in Las Cruces, New Mexico. It is the newest high school inside Doña Ana County. The school specializes in graduating its students with at least a two-year college degree. The school opened in July 2010 and has 311 students as of most current data. There is a 26.92 student/teacher ratio. It is a part of Las Cruces Public Schools. Entrance In order to be accepted into either the STEM school or Medical Academy the students must go through an application process in the winter of their eighth grade year. Las Cruces High School is a public high school in Las Cruces, New Mexico, United States. LCHS opened in 1954 and is the oldest public high school in Las Cruces. As of the 2016–17 school year, it serves 1,661 students from grades 9–12. It is a part of Las Cruces Public Schools. Tortugas, New Mexico or Tortugas Pueblo is a community in Doña Ana County, New Mexico, just outside of Las Cruces, New Mexico. As of the 2020 census, the CDP's population was 579.
