Ralph Lars Herseth (born June 16, 1946) is an American former politician. He served in the South Dakota House of Representatives from 1979 to 1986 and in the Senate from 1989 to 1996. He was the son of Ralph and Lorna Herseth Lorna Buntrock Herseth (April 5, 1909 – September 8, 1994) was the South Dakota Secretary of State, Secretary of State of South Dakota from 1973 to 1979. Stephanie Marie Herseth Sandlin (born December 3, 1970) is an American attorney, university administrator, and politician from the Democratic Party. She served in the United States House of Representatives for from 2004 until 2011. Sandlin was first elected to Congress in a special election on July 12, 2004 and was re-elected three times before losing her seat in Congress to Republican Kristi Noem in 2010.
