Larry Tidwell
Larry Dan Tidwell (born May 14, 1953), is the Head Coach for the Dallas Christian College Woman’s Basketball Team. Before moving to Kansas, he served as women's basketball head coach from 2013–2018 at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, having been retained when his former institution, the University of Texas–Pan American (UTPA), merged with the University of Texas at Brownsville (UTB). Prior to his position at UTPA/UTRGV, he was head coach of the Lamar Lady Cardinals basketball team for six seasons from 2007–2013 as well as also Lamar athletics director from June 2010 to May 2011. Coaching Tidwell is a coaching veteran of over 35 years and has worked in the Big 12 Conference, Western Athletic Conference, Conference USA, the former Southwest Conference and the Southland Conference. Big 12 Conference
The Big 12 Conference is a college athletic conference headquartered in Irving, Texas, USA. It consists of ten full-member universities. It is a member of Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) for all sports. Its football teams compete in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS; formerly Division I-A), the higher of two levels of NCAA Division I football competition. Its 10 members, in the states of Iowa, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas and West Virginia, include two private Christian universities and eight public universities. Southwest Conference
The Southwest Conference (SWC) was an NCAA Division I college athletic conference in the United States that existed from 1914 to 1996. Composed primarily of schools from Texas, at various times the conference included schools from Oklahoma and Arkansas. For most of its history, the core members of the conference were Texas-based schools plus one in Arkansas: Baylor University, Rice University, Southern Methodist University, Texas A&M University, Texas Christian University, Texas Tech University, the University of Arkansas and the University of Texas at Austin. 2015 WAC Women's Basketball Tournament
The 2015 WAC women's basketball tournament was held on March 11–14, 2015, at the Orleans Arena in Paradise, Nevada. This was the fourth consecutive year the WAC Tournament took place in Vegas. Format Grand Canyon did not compete in the 2015 women's basketball tournament. As a D2 to D1 transitioning school, they were ineligible to compete in the NCAA tournament until the 2018 season, so they could not win the conference tournament since the winner received an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. However Grand Canyon was eligible to win the regular season title and is eligible to compete in the WNIT or WBI should they be invited. 2013 Women's Basketball Invitational
The 2013 Women's Basketball Invitational (WBI) was a single-elimination tournament of 16 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I teams that did not participate in the 2013 NCAA Women's Division I Basketball Tournament or 2013 WNIT. The field of 16 was announced on March 18, 2013. All games were hosted by the higher seed throughout the tournament, unless the higher seed's arena was unavailable. The championship game was hosted by the school with the higher end of the season RPI. The tournament was won by the Detroit Mercy Titans. 2011 Women's National Invitation Tournament
The 2011 Women's National Invitation Tournament (WNIT) was an annual single-elimination tournament of 64 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I teams that were not selected to participate in the 2011 NCAA Division I women's basketball tournament. The tournament was played entirely on campus sites. The highest ranked team in each conference that did not receive a bid to the NCAA Tournament received an automatic bid to this tournament. The remaining slots were filled by the WNIT Selection Committee. In the championship game, the Toledo Rockets defeated the USC Trojans, 76–68, before a sellout crowd of 7,301 at Savage Arena in Toledo, Ohio. 2010 NCAA Women's Division I Basketball Tournament
The 2010 NCAA Division I women's basketball tournament started Saturday, March 20, 2010 and was completed on Tuesday, April 6 of the same year with University of Connecticut Huskies defending their title from the previous year by defeating Stanford, 53–47. Tournament procedure Pending any changes to the format, a total of 64 teams will enter the 2010 tournament. 32 automatic bids shall be awarded to each program that wins their conference's tournament. Women's National Invitation Tournament
The Women's National Invitation Tournament (WNIT) is a women's national college basketball tournament with a preseason and postseason version played every year. It is operated in a similar fashion to the men's college National Invitation Tournament (NIT) and NIT Season Tip-Off. Unlike the NIT, the women's tournament is not run by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), but is an independent national championship.
