Larry W. Potts (born September 14, 1948) is an American politician. Career Potts previously served on the board of Davidson County Social Services. He also previously served as Chairman of the NC Social Services Commission prior to taking his seat in the NC General Assembly. In 2018 he was appointed by the Speaker of the House as Chairman of the Health Committee, DHHS Appropriations Committee, and Vice-Chairman of the House Appropriations Committee. The Republican Party, also referred to as the GOP ("Grand Old Party"), is one of the two major contemporary political parties in the United States. Lexington is the county seat of Davidson County, North Carolina, United States. As of the 2010 census, the city had a population of 18,931. The North Carolina House of Representatives is one of the two houses of the North Carolina General Assembly. The House is a 120-member body led by a Speaker of the House, who holds powers similar to those of the President pro-tem in the North Carolina Senate. The qualifications to be a member of the House are found in the state Constitution: "Each Representative, at the time of his election, shall be a qualified voter of the State, and shall have resided in the district for which he is chosen for one year immediately preceding his election."
