Larry Buhler
Lawrence Abraham Buhler (May 28, 1917 – August 21, 1990) was a fullback/ halfback in the National Football League (NFL) who played 21 games for the Green Bay Packers. He played for the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers under Bernie Bierman. In 1939, the Green Bay Packers used the ninth pick in the first round of the 1939 NFL Draft to sign Buhler out of the University of Minnesota. Buhler played for three seasons with the Packers and retired in 1941. Buhler ended his working career as the manager of the municipal liquor store in Windom, Minnesota Windom is a city in Cottonwood County, Minnesota, United States. Cottonwood County Courthouse
The Cottonwood County Courthouse is the seat of government for Cottonwood County, Minnesota, United States, located in the city of Windom. It has been in continual use since its dedication in 1905. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977 for its state-level significance in the themes of architecture and art. It was nominated for the neoclassicism expressed throughout the building, from the exterior architecture to the interior design and artwork. With Origin On July 29, 1870, the Minnesota Legislature legally organized Cottonwood County. Fullback (American Football)
A fullback (FB) is a position in the offensive backfield in gridiron football, and is one of the two running back positions along with the halfback. Fullbacks are typically larger than halfbacks and in most offensive schemes the fullback's duties are split among power running, pass catching, and blocking for both the quarterback and the other running back. Many great runners in the history of American football have been fullbacks, including Jim Brown, Marion Motley, Bronko Nagurski, Jim Taylor, Franco Harris, Larry Csonka, John Riggins, Christian Okoye, and Levi Jackson. However, many of these runners would retroactively be labeled as halfbacks, due to their position as the primary ball carrier; they were primarily listed as fullbacks due to their size and did not often perform the run-blocking duties expected of modern fullbacks. Bernie Bierman
Bernard W. Bierman (March 11, 1894 – March 7, 1977) was an American football player and coach of football and basketball. He coached from 1919 to 1950 except for a span during World War II when he served in the U.S. armed forces. Bierman was the head coach at the University of Montana (1919–1921), Mississippi State University (1925–1926), Tulane University (1927–1931), and his alma mater, the University of Minnesota (1932–1941, 1945–1950), compiling a career college football record of 153–65–12. At Minnesota, Bierman's Golden Gophers compiled a 93–35–6 record, won five national championships and seven Big Ten Conference titles, and completed five undefeated seasons.
