Larisa Valeryevna Mikhaylova (Лариса Валерьевна Михайлова; born 13 July 1981) is a Russian-born Kazakhstani former water polo player. She was a member of the Kazakhstan women's national water polo team, playing as a driver. She was a part of the team at the 2004 Summer Olympics. Water polo is a competitive sport, competitive team sport played in water between two teams of seven players each. The game consists of four quarters in which the teams attempt to score goals by throwing the water polo ball, ball into the opposing team's goal (sport), goal. Uralochka-ZMZ Zlatoust (russian: Динамо-Уралочка) is a Russian professional women's water polo club from Zlatoust. Kazakhstan women's national football team represent Kazakhstan in international women football and it is governed by the Kazakhstan Football Federation. Kazakhstan made their debut in the Asian championships in 1995. Kazakhstan came second-to-last in their group. Two years later, Kazakhstan came last in the same championships. In 1999 Kazakhstan were third in their group, but only the first-placed teams qualified. This was Kazakhstan's last Asian championships. In 2001, Kazakhstan looked to move to UEFA, and in 2002, they began to play their qualifying games there. The women's water polo tournament at the 2004 Summer Olympics was contested between August 16 and August 26 at the Olympic Aquatic Centre in the Athens Olympic Sports Complex. Eight teams qualified for the Games, with Italy defeating the host nation Greece for the gold medal. The United States won the bronze medal.
