Larestan
Larestan County ( fa, شهرستان لارستان) is located in Fars province, Iran. The capital of the county is Lar. At the 2006 census, the county's population (including those portions of the county later split off to form Evaz County, Gerash County and Juyom County) was 223,235, in 49,571 households. Retrieved 30 October 2022 The following census in 2011 counted 226,879 people, in 54,686 households. At the 2016 census, the county's population was 213,920, in 60,410 households. Administrative divisions The historical region of Larestan and Lamerd consists of several counties in Fars province (Larestan County, Khonj County, Gerash County and Lamerd) and Bastak County in Hormozgan province. Larestani people speak the Larestani language. Larestani people are of Persian descent, the majority of Larestani people are Sunnis. Larestani people call themselves "Khodmooni". Larestani Language
Achomi ( fa, اچُمی), also known as Larestani and Khodmooni, is a Southwestern Iranian Persian language spoken by people in southern Fars and western Hormozgan and by significant numbers of immigrant groups in Kuwait, Bahrain, Iraq, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and other Persian Gulf Arab countries. It is the predominant language of Larestan, Khonj, Gerash, Lamerd, and Evaz counties in Fars and Bastak County in Hormozgan Province. It is also spoken by some Huwalas in the Gulf countries. The majority of Achomi speakers are Sunni Muslims. Etymology and name of the language There are different ways to refer to this language. *Achomi: Native speakers often refer to their language as Achomi. There are different reasons for this name. One of them is the language's frequent usage of the ʃconsonant. The second reason originates from when Arabs began trading with Achomis. Lar ( fa, لار, also Romanized as Lār; also known as Larestan) is a city and capital of Larestan County, Fars Province, Iran. At the 2006 census, its population was 51,961, in 12,891 families.
