Galena, Illinois
Galena is the largest city in and the county seat of Jo Daviess County, Illinois, with a population of 3,308 at the 2020 census. A section of the city is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as the Galena Historic District. The city is named for the mineral galena, which was in the ore that formed the basis for the region's early lead mining economy. Native Americans, primarily Mesquakie, Ho-Chunk, Sauk, and Menominee had mined galena in the area for more than a thousand years before European Americans settled in the area. Owing to these deposits, Galena was the site of the first major mineral rush in the United States. By 1828, the population was estimated at 10,000, rivaling the population of Chicago at the time. La Pointe is a town in Ashland County in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. The population was 428 at the 2020 census. The town includes all of the Apostle Islands except for the westernmost four, which lie in the towns of Bayfield and Russell in Bayfield County. The town includes the unincorporated community of La Pointe on Madeline Island, the largest of the Apostle Islands (and the only one open for commercial development). La Pointe County was created on February 19, 1845, by the Territory of Wisconsin from the northern portion of the existing territorial St. Croix County, encompassing the remaining portions of the Northwest Territory in Wisconsin Territory north of the line drawn from the confluence of the Ripple River with the Mississippi River (today, near Aitkin, Minnesota) to the western edge of Lac Courte Oreilles, to the eastern edge of Lac Courte Oreilles, and to the western branch of the Montreal River. Lapointe was a federal electoral district in Quebec, Canada that was represented in the House of Commons of Canada from 1949 to 1979. This riding was created in 1947 from parts of Chicoutimi riding. It consisted of the city of Arvida and the towns of Kénogami and Jonquière and the western part of the county of Chicoutimi. Metro Town Phase One, often abbreviated to Metro Town (), is a private residential high-rise development located in the Tseung Kwan O district of the New Territories in Hong Kong, on top of the MTR station in Tiu Keng Leng. It was a joint development by Cheung Kong Holdings, Nan Fung Group and MTR Corporation, which began in 2006.
