Lanzarote (DO)
Lanzarote is a Spanish Denominación de Origen Protegida (DOP) for wines that covers the entire island of Lanzarote, in the Canary Islands, Spain. It acquired its DO in 1994, and there are currently around 1,800 ha under cultivation. There are four subzones: * La Geria, the largest and located in the south * San Bartolomé/Tías (Masdache), in the centre *Tinajo, in the centre-west * Haría-Ye, in the north Geography and soils Lanzarote, the easternmost island in the Canary Islands has a unique and spectacular landscape in that the centre of the island is covered by solidified black lava (from a volcanic eruption in 1730–36). This means that nothing can grow there, but around the edges of this mass of lava, conditions are ideal for vines due to the presence of a layer of volcanic ash, known as lapilli or ''picón''. The Province of Las Palmas (, ; es, Provincia de Las Palmas) is a province of Spain, consisting of the eastern part of the autonomous community of the Canary Islands. Vigiriega is a Spanish white wine grape variety that is grown in the Canary Islands ( El Hierro and Tenerife) and in the province of Granada (Andalusia). Sumoll
The Sumoll is a black grape variety. It is a rustic variety, native from the Penedès region in Catalonia (EU), drought resistant and with uniform development. The grape is long and big. It is used to produce red, white, rosé wines and cava (Catalan form of Champagne, the so-called Traditional Method). Its former presence is also evident in the number of different names in Catalan dialects: sumoi, chimoi, saumoll, somoi, sumoy, ximoll, somoll, ximoy, xemoll, among others. The name is related to the local slang term sumollar, which means maturing or withering, from the Latin verb ''submolliare''. Tempranillo
Tempranillo (also known as Ull de Llebre, Cencibel, Tinto Fino and Tinta del Pais in Spain, Aragonez or Tinta Roriz in Portugal, and several other synonyms elsewhere) is a black grape variety widely grown to make full-bodied red wines in its native Spain.
