Lanie Lane
Lanie Lane (born 11 February 1987) is the stage name of Lanier Stefanie Myra Johnston, an Australian blues-jazz singer-songwriter and guitarist. Lane released two studio albums between 2011 and 2014. At the ARIA Music Awards of 2012, Lane was nominated for five awards. In February 2015, Lane announced she was "quitting" the music industry. Lane used a 1957 guitar named Betty, a 1966 electric Gibson named BoDidd (after Bo Diddley) and an unnamed 1960 archtop guitar. The album track, "Betty Baby", is dedicated to the guitar. Blues is a music genre and musical form which originated in the Deep South of the United States around the 1860s. Somniloquy, commonly referred to as sleep-talking, is a parasomnia in which one speaks aloud while asleep. It can range from simple mumbling sounds to loud shouts or long, frequently inarticulate, speeches. It can occur many times during a sleep cycle and during both NREM and REM sleep stages, though, as with sleepwalking and night terrors, it most commonly occurs during delta-wave NREM sleep or temporary arousals therefrom. When somniloquy occurs during rapid eye movement sleep, it represents a so-called " motor breakthrough" of dream speech: words spoken in a dream are spoken out loud. Spiderbait is an Australian alternative rock band from Finley, New South Wales, formed in 1991 by bass guitarist and singer Janet English, drummer and singer Kram (musician), Kram, and guitarist Damian Whitty. In 2004 the group's cover version of the 1930s Lead Belly song "Black Betty" reached number one on the ARIA Charts, ARIA Singles Chart. Mark Anthony Maher, better known by his stage name Kram, is an Australian musician and the drummer and singer of Spiderbait. His stage name is an anagram of his first name; "Kram" is simply "Mark" spelled backwards. Kram has appeared at the 2005 benefit concert for the South-East Asian tsunami, WaveAid, as a member of supergroup the Wrights who performed Stevie Wright's three-part classic, "Evie". The Australasian Performing Right Association Awards of 2012 (generally known as APRA Awards) are a series of related awards which include the APRA Music Awards, Art Music Awards, and Screen Music Awards. ''Like a Version'' is a weekly segment on Australian youth radio station Triple J. It involves Australian and international artists playing two songs live in the Triple J studio, one of their own songs (an "original") and then a cover version, hence the name of the segment. The title is wordplay on the Madonna song " Like a Virgin". It was created by Mel Bampton as part of the ''Mel in the Morning'' program. The segment was later moved to Robbie Buck's Drive program, and then to the Breakfast Show. Due to the intimate nature of the studio, the performance is often acoustic or otherwise stripped-back, however some bands have stretched this concept. The segment has grown in popularity over the years, leading to the release of compilation CDs featuring the best covers. Some particularly well-received covers have also made it into the Triple J Hottest 100. The Black Keys
The Black Keys are an American rock duo formed in Akron, Ohio, in 2001. The group consists of Dan Auerbach (guitar, vocals) and Patrick Carney (drums). The duo began as an independent act, recording music in basements and self-producing their records, before they eventually emerged as one of the most popular garage rock artists during a second wave of the genre's revival in the 2000s. Icehouse (band)
Icehouse are an Australian Rock music, rock band, formed in Sydney in 1977 as Flowers. Initially known in their homeland for their Pub rock (Australia), pub rock style, the band later achieved mainstream success playing New wave music, new-wave and synth-pop music and attained Top 10 singles chart success locally and in both Europe and the U.S. The mainstay of both Flowers and Icehouse has been Iva Davies (singer-songwriter, record producer, guitar, bass, keyboards, oboe) supplying additional musicians as required.
