Langenberg (Rothaargebirge)
The Langenberg () rises on the state border between North Rhine-Westphalia and Hesse in Germany and, at , is the highest peak in the Rothaar mountain range, as well as the highest point in the North Rhine-Westphalia and also in the north of Germany outside the Harz Mountains. Location The Langenberg lies on the border of the Hochsauerland (Westphalia) and Waldeck-Frankenberg (North Hesse) districts, where the Hochsauerland region transitions into the Upland, between Olsberg-Bruchhausen in the north-northwest, Willingen in the northeast and Niedersfeld (north of Winterberg) in the southwest. The Langenberg summit is about 10 m southwest of the Hessian-Westphalian state border. Willingen (official name: ''Willingen (Upland)'') is a municipality in Waldeck-Frankenberg in northern Hesse, Germany, some 80 km west of Kassel. Geography Location Willingen is found in Waldeck-Frankenberg district in the Upland. Its main town stretches between two river valleys, the Hoppecke in the west and the Itter in the east. The ski resort Skigebiet Willingen is near. It is located 60 km west of Kassel. Mühlenkopfschanze ski jump is also located here. Hochheideturm
Hochheideturm is a observation tower, with a completely glassed prospect platform on 831 metres high, located in Ettelsberg, Germany, near Willingen. The northwest side of the tower is the highest artificial climbing wall of Europe (height: 41 metres). Construction Hochheideturm was designed by Karl Suck in Korbach and is constructed of reinforced concrete construction with octagonal cross section. Erection of Hochheideturm, which belongs to Ettelsberg aerial ropeway GmbH & CO. kg, cost 2 million euro and started in November 2001, after construction permit was given on 16 October 2001. On 31 January 2002 its foundation was finished and on 15 April 2002 the above ground construction work. The Rothaarsteig is a 154.80 km long hiking trail along the crest of the Rothaargebirge mountain range in Germany in the border region between the states of North Rhine-Westphalia (NW) and Hesse (HE). It was opened in 2001. Overview The main route of the Rothaarsteig trail runs from Brilon (NW), mainly in a southerly direction over the Kahler Asten (NW) to Dillenburg (HE).
