Landline (TV Series)
''Landline'' is an Australian national rural issues television program broadcast on ABC Television since 1991. History The program premiered in March 1991. ''Landline'' was the first program that broadcast on ABC2 when the channel was launched at on 7 March 2005. Previous presenters include Deborah Knight, Ticky Fullerton, Anne Kruger and Sally Sara. Description Landline is presented by Pip Courtney, who has hosted the program since 2012. The program discusses rural issues "ranging across agri-politics and economics, business and product innovation, animal and crop science, regional infrastructure, climate and weather trends, regional and rural services, music and lifestyle". Pip Courtney
Philippa Jane "Pip" Courtney is an Australian journalist and television presenter. She is known for her work as a reporter and host of the ABC series ''Landline''. In 2000, she became a reporter on ''The 7.30 Report'', but returned to ''Landline'' in 2001. Career Courtney's father, Michael, was a journalist and editor of '' The Examiner''. She grew up in Launceston, Tasmania, and attended the Launceston Church Grammar School from 1977 to 1982. She then studied politics at the University of Tasmania, where she resided at Christ College and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in 1986. In 1993, Courtney joined ''Landline'', where she met cameraman John Bean during her first shoot; they married on 28 January 1999. On 18 August 2011, Bean, television journalist Paul Lockyer and pilot Gary Ticehurst died in a helicopter crash while filming at Lake Eyre in South Australia. ABC Television (Australian TV Network)
ABC Television is the general name for the national television services of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC). Until an organisational restructure in 2017/2018, ABC Television was also the name of a division of the ABC. The name was also used to refer to the first and for many years the only national ABC channel, before it was renamed ABC1 and then again to ABC TV. The Australian public broadcaster's television service was launched in November 1956 from its first television station in Australia, ABN Sydney. This was the second one in the country, with the commercial channel TCN having launched two months earlier.
