''Land'' is the fourth studio album by Faroese folk metal band Týr. It is a multilingual album with vocals in Faroese, English, Norwegian, Danish in Sinklars Vísa and Icelandic in Brennivín. It was released on 30 May 2008 through Napalm Records Napalm Records is an Austrian independent record label focused on heavy metal and hard rock. Týr (band)
Týr () is a Faroese folk metal band. They have been characterised as one of "the islands' two most successful metal bands". Their subject matter revolves almost entirely around Viking lore, mythology, and history, taking their name from Týr, the god of war in Norse religion. They later changed their name to Wolfgang. Edvard Grieg
Edvard Hagerup Grieg ( , ; 15 June 18434 September 1907) was a Norwegian composer and pianist. He is widely considered one of the foremost Romantic era composers, and his music is part of the standard classical repertoire worldwide. Edvard Storm
Edvard Storm (21 August 1749 – 29 September 1794) was a Norwegian poet, songwriter and educator. His writings were frequently characterized by the Norwegian romantic nationalism common to the age. Background Storm was from Vågå in Oppland, Norway. He was the son of Johan Storm (1712–76), the parish priest at Vågå Church, and his second wife, Ingeborg Birgitta Røring (1718–1760). The early years of his life were spent in the Vågå Rectory (''Vågåkyrkja''). He began formal schooling in 1756 in Oslo, Christiania (now Oslo). In 1765 he took the entry examination for Copenhagen University, but waited until later to enter. For a period he was a teacher in Lesja, but he returned for 1766–1769 in his childhood home. How Far To Asgaard
''How Far to Asgaard'' is the debut studio album by Faroese folk metal band Týr. It was released in January 2002 by Tutl Records. "Ormurin Langi" is a metal version of the traditional Faroese song. A video for the song was also recorded in Iceland. The song "How Far to Asgaard" is 8:59 in length, followed by 9:50 of silence. At 18:49 there is the Faroese poem "Nornagest Ríma" chanted by a group and accompanied by rhythmic stamping. The Russian release of the album is issued by СД-Максимум (CD-Maximum) under license from Tutl Records. The 9:50 of silence on the track "How Far to Asgaard" is shortened to just 0:51. This version also contains the video for "Hail to the Hammer". The album art on this version is an obvious remake of the original. The album was re-released on 2 October 2008 by Napalm Records with a new cover artwork and two additional tracks originally from the single " Ólavur Riddararós" released in 2002. Viking Metal
Viking metal is a subgenre of heavy metal music characterized by a lyrical and thematic focus on Norse mythology, Norse paganism, and the Viking Age. Viking metal is quite diverse as a musical style, to the point where some consider it more a cross-genre term than a genre, but it is typically seen as black metal with influences from Nordic folk music.
