In December 1989, Brazilian billionaire businessman Abilio Diniz was the victim of a kidnapping, that took place on the day of the first Brazilian democratic presidential elections after a military dictatorship. His kidnapping was meant to raise money for Sandinista guerrillas. Gene William Lamont (born December 25, 1946) is an American special assistant to the general manager of the Kansas City Royals. He was a catcher and manager in Major League Baseball who managed the Chicago White Sox (1992–1995) and Pittsburgh Pirates (1997–2000) and served as a coach for the Detroit Tigers (2006-2017). He batted left-handed and threw right-handed. Early life Lamont was a Chicago Cubs fan all his life, growing up in Kirkland, Illinois and attending Western Illinois University. Elish Lamont or Elish La Mont(e) (c. 1800/1816 – 28 July 1870) was an Irish miniaturist. Life Elish Lamont was born to a well-known business family in Belfast, in either 1800 or 1816. Her father was John Lamont, a stationer and printer. She went to London to train as a miniaturist, upon completing this training she returned to Belfast. She established herself as a professional artist by 1837. During her career in Belfast, Lamont lived at a number of addresses and lived alternately with her brothers, John, watchmaker and optician, and Dr Aeneas Lamont, surgeon. She opened a boarding and day school with a Miss Rock in 1851. The prospectus of which outlined that Lamont as an experienced tutor, with experience in England, France, and Germany. However, her involvement with the school had ceased by 1856. Lamont moved to an address on Clare St, Dublin in 1857, living there until 1859. Duncan Lamont (4 July 1931 - 2 July 2019) was a saxophonist, composer and bandleader active for many years in London's Soho jazz scene. His soundtracks include the music to the 1970s children's television animation series Mr Benn. Early career Lamont was born in Greenock, the son of a shipyard worker. He began learning the trumpet at the age of seven because “it was the cheapest instrument I could get – it cost 30 shillings”. He started playing with local dance bands while still at school. After a time working in the shipyards, Lamont moved to London to play with Kenny Graham's Afro Cubists and (switching to tenor saxophone) with the Johnny Keating band in 1957. Donal Lamont
Donal Raymond Lamont (27 July 1911 – 14 August 2003), was an Irish-Rhodesian Roman Catholic bishop and missionary who was best known for his fight against white minority rule in Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe). Early years Donal Raymond Lamont was born on 27 July 1911 at Ballycastle, County Antrim, in Ulster, the northern province in Ireland. He was a pupil at the Carmelite school Terenure College, in Dublin. In 1929 he entered the Carmelite Order, doing his novitiate in Kinsale, County Cork. After studies at University College Dublin, he studied theology at St Albert's College, Rome and was ordained as a priest in Rome during July 1937. On returning to Ireland, he taught English literature at Terenure.
