He played college football at the University of Toledo and attended Ypsilanti High School in Ypsilanti, Michigan. William Bailey Lamar (June 12, 1853 – September 26, 1928) was an American attorney and politician who served as a U.S. representative from Florida from 1903 to 1909. Early life and education Lamar was born on June 12, 1853 in Monticello, Florida. He was a member of the Lamar family, a political family from Georgia. Lamar attended Jefferson Academy in Monticello, and later went on to attend the University of Georgia. He lived in Athens, Georgia from 1866 until 1873, when he began attending Cumberland University's law school in Lebanon, Tennessee, graduating in 1875. That same year, Lamar was admitted into the Mississippi Bar and began a private practice in Tupelo, Mississippi. College career As a 4-star high school recruit, Lamar signed with Clemson on national signing day. As a freshman, Lamar played in all 15 games spending some time on special teams. Lucius Quintus Cincinnatus Lamar II (September 17, 1825January 23, 1893) was an American politician, diplomat, and jurist. A member of the Democratic Party, he represented Mississippi in both houses of Congress, served as the United States Secretary of the Interior, and was an associate justice of the Supreme Court of the United States. He also served as an official in the Confederate States of America. Born and educated in Georgia, he moved to Oxford, Mississippi to establish a legal practice. He was elected to the United States House of Representatives in 1856 and served until January 1861, when he helped draft Mississippi's Ordinance of Secession. Lucius Quintus Cincinnatus Lamar (July 15, 1797 – July 4, 1834) was an attorney and jurist in his native Georgia. His son Lucius Quintus Cincinnatus Lamar II followed him into law and was appointed from Mississippi as a U.S. Supreme Court Justice.
