Lama Foundation
Lama Foundation is a spiritual community founded in 1967, located in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains of northern New Mexico, seventeen miles north of Taos. The original commune was co-founded by Barbara Durkee (now known as Asha Greer or Asha von Briesen), Stephen Durkee (aka Steve Durkee, later known as Nooruddeen Durkee), and Jonathan Altman. Mission Lama Foundation's original mission was "dedicated to the awakening of consciousness, spiritual practice with respect for all traditions, service, and stewardship of the land." Now the Lama Board of Trustees is an active board, ensuring that traditions are "transmitted". Lama engages in two seasons: summer "open" season and winter "closed" season. Sunset, also known as sundown, is the daily disappearance of the Sun below the horizon due to Earth's rotation. USCO
USCO was an American media art collective in the 1960s, founded by Gerd Stern, Michael Callahan, Steve Durkee, Judi Stern, and Barbara Durkee in New York. The name USCO is an acronym for Us Company or the Company of Us. The collective was most active during the years 1964–66. USCO exhibited in the United States, Canada, and Europe, and is considered a key link in the development of expanded cinema, visual music, installation art, multimedia, intermedia, and the Internet. In addition, USCO's strobe environments heralded new media art. Members The founding members of USCO were poet Gerd Stern, electronic technician Michael Callahan, and ex- Pop art painter Steve Durkee (aka Stephen Durkee, later known as Nooruddeen Durkee). Prayer Flag
A Tibetan prayer flag is a colorful rectangular cloth, often found strung along trails and peaks high in the Himalayas. They are used to bless the surrounding countryside and for other purposes. Baba Hari Dass (Devanagari: बाबा हरि दास) (26 March 1923 – 25 September 2018) was an Indian yoga master, silent monk, temple builder, and commentator of Indian scriptural traditions of '' dharma'' and ''moksha''. He was classically trained in the Ashtanga of Patanjali (also known as ''Rāja yoga''), as well as Kriya yoga, Ayurveda, Samkhya, Tantra, Vedanta, and Sanskrit. The Family International (TFI) is a Christian New Religious Movement founded in Huntington Beach, California, USA, in 1968 by David Berg that has been criticized as an authoritarian cult. Originally named Teens for Christ, it has gone under a number of different names. It gained notoriety as The Children of God (COG). The Hog Farm is an organization considered America's longest running hippie commune.
