Andrew J. Lally (born February 11, 1975) is an American professional auto racing driver. He competes full-time in the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, driving the Audi R8 for Magnus Racing and previously part-time in the NASCAR Cup Series, driving the No. 78 Ford Mustang for Live Fast Motorsports and part-time in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, driving the No. 44 Chevrolet Camaro for Alpha Prime Racing. Pat Lally (politician)
Patrick James Lally (February 1926 – 8 June 2018) was a Scottish politician who was Leader of Glasgow City Council and Lord Provost of Glasgow. Early years Pat Lally was born and brought up in the Gorbals, a poor district of Glasgow. He left school at 13, and was conscripted to the RAF after the War. He joined the Labour Party in 1950 and was elected as a Glasgow Corporation councillor in 1966. Glasgow Council Lally was involved in local government politics from 1966 to 1999. Although he was suspended from Labour's candidates list in 1977 in a housing allocation row, he returned to the City Chambers in 1980. He was council leader of Glasgow City District Council in the early 1990s and became Lord Provost of the new City Council in 1995, serving until 1999. During this time he did much to promote Glasgow on the national and international stage. A Lally column is a round or square thin-walled structural steel column filled with concrete and oriented vertically to provide support to beams or timbers stretching over long spans.Lally columns are an engineered Component and as such must be installed exactly as the design engineer specified. Fabrication The steel shell of a Lally column is filled with concrete, which carries a share of the compression load, and helps prevent local buckling of the shell. The advantage of a Lally column over conventional structural steel is the ability to cut it to length on a construction site with simple hand tools such as a plumber's pipe cutter or a reciprocating saw. The Lally School of Management was founded in 1963 as part of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Harold "Lally" Stott (16 January 1945 – 6 June 1977) was a British singer-songwriter and musician who wrote the song "Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep" which became a UK number one hit for the Scottish band Middle of the Road in 1971, and charting at number 20 in the U.S. and number 41 in the UK the same year for Mac and Katie Kissoon. Life and career Stott was born in Prescot, Lancashire, in 1945. He spent several years in Italy, as vocalist and front-man of the 1960s Liverpool beat band The Motowns. He wrote the song "Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep" and released his version in September 1970 on the Philips label. Kathleen "Lally" Bowers (21 January 1914 – 18 July 1984) was an English actress. Bowers was born in Oldham, Lancashire, where she was educated at Hulme Grammar School. She worked as a secretary before walking-on and understudying at the Shakespeare Memorial Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon. Thomas Arthur, Comte De Lally
Thomas Arthur, comte de Lally, baron de Tollendal (13 January 17029 May 1766) was a French general of Irish Jacobite ancestry. Lally commanded French forces, including two battalions of his own red-coated Regiment of Lally of the Irish Brigade, in India during the Seven Years' War. After a failed attempt to capture Madras he lost the Battle of Wandiwash to British forces under Eyre Coote and then was forced to surrender the remaining French post at Pondicherry. After time spent as a prisoner of war in Britain, Lally voluntarily returned to France to face charges where he was beheaded for his alleged failures in India. Ultimately the jealousies and disloyalties of other officers, together with insufficient resources and limited naval support prevented Lally from securing India for France. Seán Ó Maolalaidh ( fl. 1419–1480) was Chief of the Name. Ó Maolalaidh of Máenmaige The Ó Maolalaidhs ( Lally, Mullally) were, with the Ó Nechtains ( Naughton), one of the two leading septs of Máenmaige in western Uí Maine. There is some evidence to suggest that they were not of the Uí Maine dynasty, but an indigenous people conquered by the latter in the 7th or 8th century.
