Lalit is a Left-wing politics, left-wing political party in the Mauritius, Republic of Mauritius. It is opposed to private or any other undemocratic control of government functions. According to its website, the party was created as a "free-expression monthly magazine" named "Lalit de Klas" ( en, "Class Struggle") in 1976.Lalit website "About", Retrieved March 2, 2012. Lalit (raga)
Lalit is a prominent raga in Hindustani classical music. It is commonly described as serene and devotional and is performed at dawn time of the day. The swara (notes of the Indian musical scale) of Lalit put emphasis on the minor second (Re) and minor sixth (Dha), and include natural and sharp fourth (Ma), but omit the commonly used perfect fifth (Pa). Author Peter Lavezzoli stated the raga was difficult to play for Western classical musicians because of its scale. Jairazbhoy argued the use of both forms of Ma was an apparent chromaticism, but that one of the Ma notes was a diminished Pa.Jairazbhoy 1995, p. 49 Lalit with a different scale was identified in the 16th century, and a raga Lalita existed before. Lalit Surajmal Kanodia (born 30 March 1941) is an Indian business entrepreneur. He is chairman of Datamatics Group of Companies which he founded in 1975, national president of the Indo - American Chamber of Commerce and vice president of the Indian Merchants Chamber, both organizations of the Indian business community. He has also served as president of the Management Consultants Association of India. Recorded December 3, 1987, in Wyastone Leys near Monmouth, Wales, the album features a performance of the serene dawn raga Lalit on sarangi. Narayan performs a long non-metrical introduction to unfold the raga, during which he adds a pulse, until he is joined by tabla to perform a composition. Origin The album consists of a single track performance of the raga Lalit. Lalit is commonly described as calm and devotional and is performed at dawn.
