"Lalala" is a song by American producer Y2K and Canadian rapper bbno$, released as a single on June 7, 2019, by Columbia Records. The music video was released on August 20, 2019. The song became viral on the video sharing platform TikTok due to its catchline: "Did I really just forget that melody?" Background To promote the release of the song, Y2K and bbno$ created fake stories about how they met and made the song, sending them to blogs including ''Lyrical Lemonade''. A remix version featuring Spanish singer Enrique Iglesias and Canadian singer Carly Rae Jepsen was released on October 30, 2019. The song is played at a key of D Phrygian and a tempo of 130 BPM. Critical reception Carl Lamarre of ''Billboard'' called the track a "fun-filled tune" with bbno$'s "outlandish" rapping over the "Latin-tinged record". Ari David Starace (born July 27, 1994), professionally known as Y2K, is an American record producer and songwriter. He is best known for his one-hit wonder " Lalala" with Canadian rapper bbno$, which Y2K produced himself. Early life Y2K was introduced to music at an early age; his mother owned a music store in Arizona,Cleasby, C. (2020, March 11). Personal interview with Starace, A. which he has said was where his interest in music began. Career According to Y2K, his introduction to music production was from California rapper, Lil B, who introduced him to Clams Casino. Following this, Y2K began to work on music, making remixes exclusively for a few years before making the decision to start producing for others, such as bbno$, Yung Gravy and lil aaron. Influences Y2K began listening to Gorillaz, and Tears for Fears, which he has mentioned were his earliest influences in music. Kiss FM is a Top40/Hit Radio station from Romania, owned by ANT1 Group. The station was rebranded from the old Radio Contact, after being purchased by a Belgian radio network. The rebranding came with a number of "on air" personalities, such as Șerban Huidu and Mihai Găinușă, the new network quickly got to be one of the most popular hit stations in Romania where it covers the main cities. Multiple record charts have been inaugurated in Romania since the 1990s. The Romanian Top 100 was the country's national chart until 2012. Founded in 1995, it was a ranking based on the compilation of charts submitted by local Romanian radio stations. The Romanian Top 100 was published weekly and was also announced during a radio show starting in 1998. Compilation of the list was first handled by Body M Production A-V, followed by Media Forest. In the 2010s, the chart was announced during a podcast on Kiss FM, but the broadcast ended in February 2012. Later that month, the Airplay 100—which was compiled by Media Forest and also broadcast by Kiss FM—replaced the Romanian Top 100 as a national chart.
