Lalah Hathaway Live
''Lalah Hathaway Live'' is the first live album by American singer Lalah Hathaway. It was released on October 30, 2015 through her own label, Hathaway Entertainment, and eOne. The album won Best R&B Album at the 59th Annual Grammy Awards in February 2017. She also earned a Grammmy for Best Traditional R&B Performance for her cover of "Angel" by Anita Baker. It is the spiritual successor to her father Donny's '' Live'', which was recorded in 1972. In addition to her own songs, there are covers of many songs by artists like Baker ("Angel"), Luther Vandross ("Forever, for Always, for Love"), Vesta Williams ("I'm Coming Back"), Randy Crawford ("When Your Life Was Low"), as well as her father's hits ("Little Ghetto Boy" and "You Were Meant for Me"). Eulaulah Donyll "Lalah" Hathaway (born December 16, 1968) is an American singer. In 1990 Hathaway released her first album titled ''Lalah Hathaway''. After releasing another album, titled '' A Moment'' (1994), it debuted at number 34 on the Top R&B albums chart. In 1999 she collaborated with Joe Sample on the album '' The Song Lives On''. After a five-year hiatus, she returned with her fourth album, '' Outrun the Sky'' (2004). The single "Forever, For Always, For Love" peaked at number 1 on the Hot Adult R&B Airplay. Stax Records released her fifth album ''Self Portrait'' in 2008. It debuted at number 63 on the Billboard 200 and reached the top 10 on the Top R&B albums chart, making this album her most successful album to date. Rahsaan Patterson (born January 11, 1974) is an American singer and actor, best known for portraying "The Kid" on the 1980s television show ''Kids Incorporated.'' Keith Edward Crouch is an American songwriter and music producer. Crouch began his career as a songwriter at the age of fifteen and landed his first gig at seventeen. Patrick Lawrence Moten (March 17, 1957 – November 22, 1999) was an American musician, songwriter, producer, and arranger. He primarily performed on piano and organ. Moten was best known as the musical director for Bobby Womack and Gerald Albright. He also produced Anita Baker's debut album ''The Songtress''. Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums is a music chart published weekly by '' Billboard'' magazine that ranks R&B and hip hop albums based on sales in the United States and is compiled by Nielsen SoundScan.
