Lal Khan
Lal Khan ( ur, لال خان; June 1956 – 21 February 2020) was a political activist and Marxist political theorist. Born Tanveer Gondal, he was a physician by profession but ceased practicing medicine in order to devote his time to political activity. Adopting the name Lal Khan, he was the leader of the Pakistani Marxist organization '' The Struggle'', and editor of its newspaper. He also wrote regular articles for ''Daily Times'' and the ''Dunya''. He died on 21 February 2020 after being ill with cancer for more than a year. Early life In the 1970s, Khan was a student of medicine in college and a political activist in Pakistan when the military coup of General Zia ul Haq toppled the Pakistan Peoples Party government, and subsequently hanged the country's first democratically elected prime minister Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto. Pakistan Trade Union Defence Campaign
The Pakistan Trade Union Defence Campaign (PTUDC) is an international solidarity campaign for Pakistani workers. History In 1995, Arif Shah, a leading trade union leader, was assassinated. Following his assassination, the Punjab Labour Federation, the United Labour Federation, the Progressive Workers Alliance, the Railway Workers Union, and the National Union of Postal Employees jointly launched the PTUDC. Work The PTUDC declares its views and aims in response to the need for working-class military in Pakistan. It is against privatization and proposes the complete nationalization of industry, in order to put it under the democratic control of workers. Ted Grant
Edward Grant (born Isaac Blank; 9 July 1913 – 20 July 2006) was a South African Trotskyist who spent most of his adult life in Britain. He was a founding member of the group Militant and later Socialist Appeal. Early life Grant's father had settled in South Africa after fleeing Tsarist Russia in the 19th century. His original family name is reported as "Blank" also in his autobiography, but ''The Guardian'' in an obituary suggested that his full birth name was kept unknown. His parents divorced when he was young and he was brought up by his French-born mother who took in lodgers to supplement her income. He was introduced to Trotskyism by one of these lodgers, Ralph Lee (born Raphael Levy), who discussed politics with Isaac and supplied him with copies of ''The Militant'', the Trotskyist newspaper of the Communist League of America. Trotskyism is the political ideology and branch of Marxism developed by Ukrainian-Russian revolutionary Leon Trotsky and some other members of the Left Opposition and Fourth International. Trotsky self-identified as an orthodox Marxist, a revolutionary Marxist, and Bolshevik– Leninist, a follower of Marx, Engels, and 3L: Vladimir Lenin, Karl Liebknecht, and Rosa Luxemburg. Mohammed Yousuf Tarigami
Mohammed Yousuf Tarigami is an Indian politician from Jammu and Kashmir. He is the Convenor and Spokesperson of People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration. He earlier represented the Kulgam Assembly Constituency in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly in 1996, 2002, 2008 and 2014.
