Lakeland School System
The Lakeland School System (LSS) is a municipal school district serving the city of Lakeland, Tennessee, United States, within Greater Memphis. Lakeland Elementary School and Lakeland Preperatory School are within the district. In December 2013 the district selected as its superintendent Dr. Ted Horrell, the principal of Germantown High School, and a former principal of Millington Central High School. As of January 2014 the school district established a survey on Surveymonkey to gauge parental attitudes on several issues. Bartlett, Tennessee
Bartlett is a city in Shelby County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 57,786 at the 2020 U.S. Census. History Bartlett, originally called "Union Depot", first served as the last major Tennessean depot along the westward stagecoach route from Nashville. It later shifted to serve as a rail station after the stagecoach route was replaced by the Memphis & Ohio Railroad. An agricultural community gradually emerged around the depot and subsequent station that saw little growth until after the American Civil War. The community saw quick growth during Reconstruction, and by 1886 was home to a school, two gristmills, three churches, several general stores, and about 300 inhabitants. Arlington Community Schools is the municipal school district in Arlington, Tennessee in Greater Memphis. History After Memphis City Schools and Shelby County Schools were merged in March 2011 (effective beginning 2013–2014 school year), several local municipalities attempted to create their own districts. After a protracted legal battle, several municipalities won the right to create their own school districts. Arlington Community Schools provides K-12 education for students residing within the municipal boundaries of the Town of Arlington. Arlington High School is a public high school located in Arlington, Tennessee, United States. It was started in 2004 and had an enrollment of 2,097 students in the 2019–20 school year. History The town of Arlington, lying within unincorporated Shelby County, had been a low-population area since its establishment in 1883. However, in the 1990s, the area experienced rapid growth. As a result, the school system became overloaded, with Bolton High School in particular being over capacity. Community developers decided another high school was inevitable, and The Shelby County School Board of Education broke ground for the school, finishing just in time for the first class of 9th graders to enroll in 2004. Originally, the land the school sits on was used for Arlington Municipal Airport, which was closed officially in 2002. Bolton High School is a public high school (grades 9–12) located in unincorporated Shelby County, Tennessee, United States, that is a part of the Memphis-Shelby County Schools district. Bolton High School is located northwest of the town of Arlington. The student body makeup is 50 percent male and 50 percent female, and the total minority enrollment is 86 percent. History The current Bolton High School campus exists on the former Hoboken Plantation, owned by Wade H. Bolton. Bolton, who earned much of his fortune as an owner of Bolton, Dickens & Co., one of the largest slave trading firms in the South, set aside for the founding of an agricultural college prior to his murder in 1869. Arlington is a town in Shelby County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 2,569 at the 2000 census, 11,517 at the 2010 census, and 14,549 at the 2020 Census. U.S. Route 70 or U.S. Highway 70 (US 70) is an east–west United States highway that runs for from eastern North Carolina to east-central Arizona.
